I think Flip wanted Prince and Miller to tutor some of the younger players, not to take playing time from them. They need a coach that can use the players properly. Mitchel is a nice guy, but not the coach they need.
Pek can't stay healthy and doesn't help the team at this point. KAT is going to be the best player in the league in about 5 years. He's already top 15, IMO. KAT, Wiggins, Lavine, Rubio, grab a kid with a top 5 pick this year. The Wolves have looked better since Lavine moved into the starting role.

I know what Flip wanted, and he could have done it. Mitchell can't. Thibs would be great.

Looks like Bosh is going to be out again with blood clots. At least they caught it early this time.

He should seriously consider retirement.

Sad news. He has enough money to live comfortably and take care of his health. Get that ego out of the way, but it's hard to sit a watch after playing so many years.

Lillard goes for 51 against Golden State, and the Portland Trail Blazers throttled the defending champs, Warriors, 137-105.

Weber State alum Lillard outshines Curry and the other Warriors. BTW, he is not an All-Star this year. :ohno:

Meanwhile, upsets galore yesterday, as about half of the games were such.
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

And the 76ers miss tying their own record for futility with their 10th win of the year!

Big night, Kobe ends his career with a 60 point night and game winning shot. Warriors win their 73rd record setting game. Timberwolves win big over New Orleans and then fire coach.

What's sad is that by going back to 2012 you're including a whole other year where they weren't even trying to tank, they just flat out stunk. It's only been three years of tanking, and now that's over. Sixers draft for real this year and start trying to win in 2016/17. Should be a fun year - if Embiid really is healthy then you trade one of Okafor or Noel, they should pick up either Simmons or Ingram in the draft, Saric comes over from Europe, and you pair that group of four with a point guard or (since you have Simmons) just a deep threat gunner. That team's going to win a fair amount of games in quick order, especially in the Eastern conference.

Hey, I'm not predicting titles, but playoffs in two years is very realistic. This is still the Eastern Conference. Let me see who they draft first (of course would be great if the Lakers pick fell to 4th but that's probably hoping for too much) and we'll see how many they can win next year.

This year .500 got you 10th in the East, meanwhile it got you in the playoffs in the West.. The conference is on an up tick.

There's every reason to believe you have to improve by, AT LEAST, 30 games to even get an 8 seed.

That scenario is...well...bad. The Sixers have tanked for so long, and sold the idea of tanking for so long that people believe it will actually work. There is a fuck ton more work needed to get to the playoffs than "hope Embiid is healthy for the first time in 4 years, just get rid of Okafor, and draft Simmons.".

Look at this roster
Elton Brand
Isaiah Canaan
Robert Covington
Embiid
Jerami Grant
Richaun Holmes
Carl Landry
Kendall Marshall
TJ McConnell
Nerlens Noel
Jahlil Okafor
Ish Smith
Nik Stauskas
Hollis THompson
Christian Wood

I follow basketball relatively well and haven't heard of 80% of those guys. You have Nik freaking Stoustkas playing 25 minutes per game.

It's nice to buy into whatever snake oil that franchise has been selling, but it might be time to actually face some reality.

If you were talking about the T'Wolves being a playoff contender in the next year or two I'd buy it.

Get a real coach...Thibs!!!!....with the talent that's there with a piece or two and you have a 40-45 win team. Then again, it's easier to go from 29 wins playing all first 3 year players than it is to go from 10 to 40.

Previous arena record was $1 million for a 2007 Led Zeppelin concert.

Staples Center Sets Single-Day Sales Record For Arena’s Worldwide On Kobe Retirement Night

The Staples Center and the Lakers set the single-day record for most merchandise sold at any arena in the world by selling $1.2 million worth of gear on Wednesday night.

The $1.2 million worth of merchandise sold includes all high-end items as well.

For example, Staples center was selling eight hates made out of snake and lamb skin (costing $38,024) and eight hats made form cashmere with five diamonds on it (costing $24,008).

Who cares what the roster is filled out with this year - it was all about the tanking. Most of those guys get jettisoned in the offseason. You get 8 deep and you're fine. Assuming healthy, you have Embiid, Okafor, Noel, #1-#3 pick this year, one other good player in the draft this year, Saric coming over from Europe, and you can use Ish as a point guard in this league and win. That's 7 deep right there. The Colangelo family is here because they realize the Sixers are the easiest turnaround project they'll ever get - already have some great pieces and they have the means to add what else they need. Picking up a free agent here and there to make the difference is what they are here to accomplish (and something that Hinkie wouldn't be able to do). Improving at least 30 games in the span of the next two years is very possible. I know it's hard to face that reality, especially if it vindicates the three years of tanking, but that's the NBA for you.

T-Wolves sign new coach and GM. Looks like a good choice.

After one season away from coaching in the NBA, Tom Thibodeau has agreed to a five-year contract with Minnesota Timberwolves to become the team’s coach and president of basketball operations.

The deal could pay Thibodeau as much $11 million annually, according to people with details of negotiations.

"I started my NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves and it is an incredible opportunity to rejoin the organization at a time when they have what I believe to be the best young roster in the NBA," Thibodeau said in a statement. "Together with a great owner in Glen Taylor and a terrific basketball partner in Scott Layden, I look forward to building a winning culture that Minnesota sports fans can be proud of."

The Timberwolves also hired San Antonio Spurs assistant general manger Scott Layden as the T'Wolves general manager.

Thibs man...holy shit. I think the Wolves are now primed for a good few years.

Now we just need to dump the shitty rebrand that was done about 2000 and go back to the old color scheme and an updated version of the old logo - something like I use in my sig.
