Time will tell on these QB's, but there are a lot of people poo-pooing Wentz because he played FCS football. Very few of them actually took time to watch Wentz game file before making the point. The one's that did, aka Philadelphia, like him.

To be fair to Mariota and Winston, they were high prospects the year before they came out for the draft (could have been 1 or 2 in the previous year's draft) and everyone had time to overanalyze them during their final collegiate season. When that happens, analysts tend to focus on all of their faults.

Didn't really happen as much for either Goff or Wentz though each was obviously on analysts' radar heading into the season and Goff was considered one of the better QBs - but not someone that would have been 1 or 2 in last year's draft at the time of last year's draft.

What they like about Wentz is the size and arm strength - game film didn't really play a lot into it. He fits a mold, he's big with a strong arm, he's smart (and therefore teachable), so they'll take a flier on him. Hey, I think it could all work out in the end, so don't take my criticism as anything more than that, but he's clearly a risk. A guy like Flacco was somewhat similar, but I think it was an easier decision on him since he made all the throws you have to make in the NFL repeatedly in college, and since that turned out well it could certainly be the same for Wentz.

The day after, I see a lot of people in the comments section of the Philly papers saying things like, "I watched some film of this guy and he looks pretty good." The populace is warming up to him.

Now let's hope all this praise being heaped on Wentz doesn't lead the Rams to change their mind and grab him. Goff would be a serious letdown at this point.

Hey another question on Wentz: has he ever heard boos before?

Has he ever had anyone audibly question his sexuality or the proclivity of his mother to sleep with said heckler?

These things may or may not happen with some regularity in Philadelphia. Just want to make sure he's not a mental marshmallow. This is a big boy football town. Not a Green Bay where they clap when the team loses.

That other ginger QB in the NFL seems like a lil bitch too. Didn't he quit playing before the playoffs last year because of sand?

The Wentz love affair is heating up. I really hope the Rams don't break this up:

The Redskins were raped in the RG III deal. They gave up three first round picks and have nothing to show for it five years later.

The Eagles essentially gave up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. That is way, way less than what the Skins gave up.

It all really comes down to how Wentz (or Goff) does. QB is by far the most important position on the field, so if you get a franchise guy for 10-15+ years then it's a no-brainer.

Calling this a rape is silly at this point. Check back in three years or so and we should know.

A 1,2 and 3 from the Eagles. A good old fashion Lawrence Welk trade.

I wonder how this ranks compared to:

1. The Saints trade the entire draft for the right to draft Ricky Williams at #5.
2. The Vikings send five players and eight draft picks to the Cowboys for Herschel Walker and four draft picks.

FYI: The picks the Cowboys got either directly or indirectly (via trade) became Emmitt Smith, Alvin Harper, Darren Woodson, and some no-names.

Only the Eagle can go from Brilliant to retarded in one pre-season
All the roster moves (even signing Bradford to an over valued contract) have ranged from Good to Excellent
and then this move...

They've already paid Bradford $11 Mil signing bonus
and that's a lot of chowder just to then trade him

The eagles have a $7 mil back-up
and Bradford under a contract nobody in the NFL wants
and now a New QB coming into camp next week

Even if the first two teams pass on him, Wentz said there are other potentially attractive spots in the top 10 where he could fit in. But if it's Philadelphia, ESPN's NFL front office insider Louis Riddick said Wentz couldn't pick a better situation.

The Eagles have quarterback Sam Bradford under contract for one more year, meaning the former No. 1 overall draft pick in 2010 could act as a mentor to Wentz for a season, Riddick said. The Eagles also have quarterback Chase Daniel, who Riddick called the ideal teammate to work with Wentz.

Add to the mix of what Riddick calls one of the best coaching staffs in the NFL in terms of coaching schemes and fundamentals, and all the pieces are there.

"It's exactly how you draw it up in a meeting room as far as setting a player up for success at the quarterback position," said Riddick on a national ESPN teleconference. "I think they handled it as best as they possibly can right now as far as taking care of the short term and then taking care of the long term. If in fact it is Carson that goes to Philly, if I'm Carson, I'm ecstatic."

The Eagles are one of the teams that have been to Fargo for a private workout with Wentz. Riddick couldn't say enough about head coach Doug Pederson, offensive coordinator Frank Reich and quarterbacks coach John Defilippo

Wentz also had a good experience with the club.

Well, the Eagles did win a few NFL Championships, including beating Lombardi in the '60 NFL Championship.

He had a lot of pressure coming in and replacing Jensen after he led NDSU to 3 straight championships. There was some pressure on Wentz to perform in the Championship game, after missing 8 games with injury last year too. He's a team player. He stayed with the Bison and helped Easton Stick when he was injured, instead of leaving to get healthy for the draft. Same in High School when he broke his hand, he played Defensive Back and was a one-armed receiver.

Per Adam Schefter, NFL Insider for ESPN who is able to blow himself, Eagles have been informed Sam Bradford wants to be traded and he will not be showing up for their off-season program any longer, per source.
