Maybe the DMV sucks in your state, but the wait, paperwork, and inefficiencies associated with most medical offices I've been to in the last year is worse than the WS DOL whoch I've also visited. Sorry this upsets you. :)
The part I take issue with is that your experience in medical offices and hospitals was worse than the DMV before Obamacare. It has certainly been a shit show since Obamacare has been implemented. I'll give you that.

Even before Obamacare, the typical wait at an emergency room around here was around half a day. But we may be the exception. We have remarkably bad hospitals here in the sticks. If you get injured in a car crash, you cross your fingers that your trauma is bad enough that they airlift you to a city hospital where the doctors don't have to be stirred from their slumber.

Delaware DMV in the rural counties, on the other hand, is incredibly fast. Usually in and out in 15 minutes.

You're not alone.

Spokane is a medical hub serving a very large region. It's been a relatively inefficien system with long office waits, excessive paperwork and billing issues, and shortages of specialists going back well over a decade to when my 2nd kid required multiple kidney surgeries as an infant and before that to when my wife and I both had cancer in our late 20's/early 30's.

And Spokane is about as representative of middle America as you can get so I'm confident our experience isn't just anecdotal.

Again, I'm not an ACA or Obama fan but thinking this all turned on when the black guy took office or that don't already suffer some of the inefficiencies blamed on socialist systems is ig'nant.

I remember the Sentara hospitals in the HR region had insane waits. Luckily the INoVA system where I'm now is one if the best in the nation. I think the average wait across all the hospitals is under 10 minutes. Gotta keep all those politicians alive, amirite?

The DMVs around here are shit shows though; thankfully VA has a great online system for almost anything motor related. I even got a letter the other day saying the emissions from my tailpipe was monitored by a roadside device and that I've passed. Just gotta pay the fee (used to have to physically go in for an emissions test before).

Three words in VA: personal property tax

I did find the DMV very easy to navigate otherwise. I liked that they'd mail your license to your house with the photo on file. They've really made a push to save people making physical trips to a location.

That stupid yellow sticker they put smack in the middle of your lower front windshield sucks though, especially if you have a light sensor under that location, as many cars do. I also HATE front license plates. Don't drill holes in my front bumper motherfucker!!! The dealers do that there. Ugh.

And my last rant. Maryland seems to be the worst for this. Take the God damn dealer license plate frame off! It looks ghetto, and why advertise for free? There are ten year old + cars in Maryland that still have that shit on. :ohno: Same thing with dealer stickers on the back of the car. Make them get that shit off.

Took my dealer bracket off as soon as I put my plates on. I agree with the advertising aspect. Same reason why I won't buy a company cycling shirt. That and the fact they are a shit brand sold for too much.

Yeah, no one likes that...but VA in general does a good job with roads and it does help pay for infrastructure. Compared to Maryland, Virginia roads seem world-class. Also, VA doesn't tax the shit out of you in everything else. :kisswink:

When I got my car, I told the dealership I wouldn't sign for it until the bracket was taken off.

Thanks to the ACA my company had to drop BCBS for

We pay about $600 a month for insurance. On top of that the plan literally doesn't pay a penny out until we pay 7,500 out of pocket individual or 10,000 family. No co-pay, no prescription coverage, nothing until we pay that out of pocket.

You want to know how much it costs to have a kid, with no need for special care and getting an early discharge? Close to 16,000. We owe about 12,000 of that out of pocket. Oh, that doesn't include any of the costs from the OBGYN. That's straight hospital charges.

Thanks to the nice lady in accounts receivable at the hospital and her payment plan we should have our youngests birth paid off by the time he starts 1st grade.

Oh, our rates and plans should be much better next year. It's a company of 75ish employees, there are 5 of us under the age of 40 give or take a few years. Oh and there have been 3 women diagnosed with breast cancer, one male diagnosed with prostrate cancer, and 2 heart attacks in the company so far this year. Things will be sooooo much better next year I'm sure.

Bumping for 2018.

Delaware is down to only one insurer left standing in its exchange, Highmark BCBS, after Aetna is the latest to pull out. With no competition remaining, Highmark announces it seeks to raise premiums another 33.6% next year after raising them 32.5% this year.

I'm not a hater. Just posting facts. I would assume that the self-employed people of Delaware (like my sister, a musician and chef and liberal) are the ones who will be doing the hating.

I'm betting my sister drops out of coverage next year, if she didn't already.

The real tragedy is going to be 20 years from now when we get to hear about what a great program Obamacare was before the GOP screwed it up

That's why I'm hoping the conks don't pass an Obamacare lite plan or any 'reform' to prop up the dying corpse for a few years or decade or 2 so the donks maintain ownership and the blame for the inevitable collapse..

That's for folks who buy through the exchanges. I'm told that people like me, who bought individual policies*,
won't be affected.

Aren't most of the people who aren't loaded buying through the exchanges? I'm talking chefs and local musicians, not attorneys and physicians.

Granted, I realize the premiums still suck for you. I have an uncle who is self employed and he tells me about the premiums he pays. Crazy stuff.

Look,
Nobody wants there to be a revised healthcare program more than me - I'm on Obama Care right now

Here's what I wish
I wish every single American had to go get a physical
and then based on that be charged an appropriate healthcare fee

I'm in perfect health
6'0" 175 lbs
can run 5 miles
Bike 50 miles
and still do you mom in the *ss and walk away

I'd pay $25 bucks a month
and after your mom tips me I'd be makin' money

Even with that system - are there annual limits or lifetime limits for your $25 a month health care plan?

You (or someone like you) could still get cancer tomorrow and be bankrupt pretty quick.
