Not really. Murray has been solid, but he hasn't had to make the tougher saves that Holtby has. So far he's let in one less goal (actually no less). Can't blame Holtby for a goal off Mooseknuckle's back, meanwhile the Ovi goal last night, while a strong shot, was a pretty soft goal IMO. Caps outplayed the Pens for the last 4 periods. Once Poontang is suspended today by the NHL, if Maatta doesn't come back, I'd be nervous if I were a Pens fan. Rust could be out too.Baldy wrote:.89Hen wrote: First game Caps outplayed Pens and got the better of the action in the 3rd period of game 2, so not really.
Not really. Pittsburgh out shot the Caps by 10, won more faceoffs, had more take aways, etc. Game 2 they just dominated the first two periods. The Caps played desperate in the 3rd, but desperation leads to sloppy play and Malkin stole Ovi's lunch which lead to the game winner.
Game 3 is playing out almost exactly like the 3rd period of game 2.
Oh, and Murray > Holtby.

Pretty much the only shot the Caps have is if Letang is suspended.89Hen wrote:Not really. Murray has been solid, but he hasn't had to make the tougher saves that Holtby has. As I said, the Caps are playing desperate and the Pens are taking advantage of it. The only time the Caps have out played the Pens has been in the 3rd period of the last two games. There is a reason the Pens have beaten the Caps 5 out of the last 7 games.

Remember that Letang didn't even get a penalty for this which knocked out 3 of Stalberg's teeth in the last round against the Rangers.

Sounds like you didn't actually watch the game. Caps were the better of the two teams all game last night.Baldy wrote:Pretty much the only shot the Caps have is if Letang is suspended.

Re: NHL Playoffs
BTW, just announced, one game suspension. Not surprised, but I thought he'd get two.
Re: NHL Playoffs
I watched. Watched as the Pens went up 3-0 because of odd man rushes due to several Caps blunders, errors, and turnovers. If playing better means turning the puck over in your defensive zone, then yeah, the Caps were much better.89Hen wrote:Sounds like you didn't actually watch the game. You just proved right there that you don't know hockey since you are responsible for your stick no matter what. You can argue whether or not it was intentional and whether he should have received a suspension but he should have gotten a double minor (there was blood).Baldy wrote:How dare Letang get pushed into the guy.tribe_pride wrote:Remember that Letang didn't even get a penalty for this which knocked out 3 of Stalberg's teeth in the last round against the Rangers.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't have gotten a penalty, but (contrary to the title of the video) it's clear that it wasn't intentional or deliberate and definitely not worthy of a suspension.

I was just saying that he got no penalty at all for that play. Said nothing about a suspension. Just what Letang has gotten away with recently.Baldy wrote:tribe_pride wrote:

Meh, I'll put my hockey knowledge up against yours any day of the week and twice on Sunday. But you and I aside, national media doesn't agree with you.Baldy wrote:I watched. PITTSBURGH -- Outhit, outshot and largely outplayed, Pittsburgh grabbed control of its Eastern Conference semifinal series against Washington.
The Capitals actually enjoyed the better share of play for much of the game, outshooting the Penguins 28-14 through 40 minutes but finding themselves down 3-0 at that point. They outshot the Penguins a whopping 49-23 overall.
Pittsburgh was on its heels for most of Game 3

I didn't know the Washington Post qualified as the "national media" when it came to it's coverage of the Washington Capitals.89Hen wrote:Meh, I'll put my hockey knowledge up against yours any day of the week and twice on Sunday. What does LIVING IN PITTSBURGH have to do with anything?
I know TONS of people who live in Atlanta that HATE the Braves, Hawks, Falcons, etc. Your point?
AGAIN, nice quotes about game 3.
Care to share quotes from games 1 & 2?

Watching all of you EC(b)'s pretend that an Eastern team has a prayer of winning the Stanley Cup is so cute.

Re: NHL Playoffs
Pens were definitely the hottest team going in to the playoffs and have continued it so far through the first 2 rounds.

You're trying to troll but it doesn't appear to be working. Who do you have beating Pittsburgh in the finals, for the record?CitadelGrad wrote:Watching all of you EC(b)'s pretend that an Eastern team has a prayer of winning the Stanley Cup is so cute.

Re: NHL Playoffs
As long as a hockey season is, and how pitifully the Caps play at the end of each one, I just don't know how a Caps fan keeps coming back. I sort of feel sorry for them. And working in and around DC the past ten years, I have really seen a bell curve on the excitement for the Ovechkin era Caps. The thrill is gone.
