And now it gets interesting. 2-1 BM for the game 2-2 in the aggregate with Atletico set to advance on away goals (1-0). Should be an interesting last 15+ minutes. Saved PK looms big

Re: **OFFICIAL 14/15 CLUB SOCCER THREAD**
Atletico advances.
If Real wins tomorrow, they advance
If ManCity wins or ties (not at 0-0) tomorrow, they advance
If 0-0 tie, they play an additional 30 and then penalties if still tied.

Are they an underdog?
They play in a55k seat stadium
They have a 70 million £ payroll
They pay their coach 4.4 million £
Going to second UCL title game in three years.
I'll have to run some comps but that's hardly small or true underdog

La liga is top heavy, but Atleticó is the definitive 3rd member of the triumvirate. The youngest brother, if you will.

Atletico is hardly an underdog anymore. They are 4th ranked in club rankings barely behind Bayern. Remember that they were in the Champions League finals only 2 years ago (same year they won La Liga) and lost to Real Madrid in the Quarters last year.DSUrocks07 wrote:Aupa Atleti

Atletico would definitely be favored over Man City. Club rankings ahead of Juventus and PSG as well.DSUrocks07 wrote:Compared to Real, Man City, Bayern and Barca?clenz wrote:Are they an underdog?

Atletico is also tied for first in La Liga this year (2nd because of GD to Barca) and ahead of Real Madrid by 1 point

1-0 Real 40 minutes in. Kompany had to be replaced by injury 10 minutes in and MC supposedly has not looked the same since (following online so I have no clue in reality what is going on but that is what people said on the ESPN live chat).
If Man City can tie this up, they will advance but seems like they have had little control.

From the sounds of it, City did not even try today and once again, there will be an all Madrid final

Re: **OFFICIAL CLUB SOCCER THREAD**
What about Real Mayonnaise? Any changes on the horizon?
Re: **OFFICIAL CLUB SOCCER THREAD**
I've decided to get into the Bundesliga next year. I'm attempting to pick a club and I'm down to 4
1. Bayern Munich - the easy one. Almost too easy. Picking Tottenham my #1 rule was not to pick one of the clubs that was spend every penny and win at all costs. However, there isn't as much coverage of German soccer as English soccer so the easier to follow the better?
The other three are because I wanted to find a team closer to where my family is from - Leer.
2. Borussia Dortmond - essentialy Bayern Munich but just newer to doing it. I watched Tottenham play there this year in the Europa Cup and was real impressed with their fan support and style of play. Get some neg points for the level of spending and the fact they use black and yellow for colors - too Iowa Hawkeye for my liking. Club is only about 2 hours from my family
3. Schalke 04. Based on my very limited research they appear to be the most Tottenham like club out of the ones I'm looking at. They are good enough that they should be easy to follow but not well known enough for me to fall into the "typical American only following the big clubs".
The last one was completely out until the the 89th minute of their game today.
4. Werder Bremmen. When I was looking for a team I noticed they were the closest current club to my family at just over an hour. However, coming into today when I was looking at the standings they were set to be relegated. They scored in the 89th minute to secure staying up and watching the crowd and players celebrate was awesome. I started doing some research and found that until about 2010 they were one of the 3 or 4 best clubs in Germany. Haven't really looked at what's happened since then.

Re: **OFFICIAL CLUB SOCCER THREAD**
I loosely follow Bayern but I jumped on that bandwagon in 1997 when I first visited Munich. The second team that I like is St. Pauli because I love the skull and crossbones and their Greatful Dead-like cult following. They were the first club to ban nationalist activities at their stadium in Hamburg (2 hours away from Leer). They are left leaning so maybe a team for Kalm to follow more than you.clenz wrote:I've decided to get into the Bundesliga next year. I'm attempting to pick a club and I'm down to 4

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Re: **OFFICIAL CLUB SOCCER THREAD**
Thought about Hamburg but decided against them for no real reason outside of Schalke and Dortmund are better. Him erg is actually about 8 minutes closer than BvD and 04UNI88 wrote:I loosely follow Bayern but I jumped on that bandwagon in 1997 when I first visited Munich. Re: **OFFICIAL CLUB SOCCER THREAD**
Found this nifty flow chart to help me pick a team. I followed it without looking where I might be ending up and I ended up right at the split where you are either Werder Bremen or Dortmund.
Fucking thing didn't help me

Though a potentially slightly more honest schadenfreude line of answering from me does get me to Hamburg.
