ST. LOUIS -- Game 1 of the NHL Western Conference finals between the Sharks and St. Louis Blues delivered the second-best overnight rating of any conference finals opener shown on NBCSN, the network said in a news release.
Sunday's game, a 2-1 Blues win, had a 1.26 overnight rating, second all-time among 14 conference finals Game 1s on NBCSN. It trailed only the 2013 Western Conference finals opener between the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings, which had a 1.42 rating.
The game had a 17.4 rating in St. Louis, the highest rated Blues game on the networks of NBC in the St. Louis market. In San Jose, it had a 4.5 rating, the second-highest audience for any conference finals game involving the Sharks. It was just behind the 4.8 rating the network received for Game 3 of the 2011 conference finals between the Sharks and Vancouver Canucks.
A 1.0 rating nationally equates to roughly 1.164 million households. In the Bay Area market, 110,000 households viewed the game.
Still some parts of the equation missing to prove my point, but I'm thinking I'm still right.

And the TV ratings will be in the toilet! NBCSN execs must be tearing their hair out.
That's why they are hoping for a Pittsburgh win.
Fans from the shitty teams between DC and Boston will be more likely to tune in and be rabid Sharks fans.
All Pens again. Vasilevskiy was a monster again last night. Clearly the best player on the ice for the entire series. If it wasn't for him, the series would have been over after 5 or 6 games.
Sharks vs. Penguins for the Cup. Gonna be a fun series to watch.
1st period got me worried that this would be a boring series but SJ played better after that. Pitt scores in last few minutes to win it and avoid OT. On to game 2.

Pretty good game. Pitt had a lot of chances (especially early). Sharks made it a game and dominated the 2nd period. Was kinda hoping for OT as I still had some beer left in the cooler...but I guess it didn't matter since I drank them anyways. Should be an entertaining series.

You got your OT game last night.
Pens up 2-0, and it really hasn't been that close. Jonesy is the only reason Pittsburgh hasn't won the first two by 3-4 goals each. The Sharks better make some changes quick...they are just getting plain dominated.
True. Heading out to San Jose for the next 2 games. See if that makes a difference. As I have said the whole time though, Pitt was the hottest team coming in to the playoffs and they have continued to look strong throughout them.

Aside from that flurry of goals, Pens dominated the rest of the game...but nothing found the back of the net...and that 3rd goal Murray let through...ouch...

Exactly. Jonesy kept them in the series for at least one more game. San Jose still hasn't found an answer to the Pens speed and pressure. Aside from Martin Jones, its like men playing against little boys.
