Mexican coach Herrera fired for allegedly assaulting Mexican television commentator Christian Martinoli. WC Qualifying starts this November (which this round should be extremely easy for US, Mexico, etc.) but more importantly Confederations Cup 2017 playoff qualifier against the US is on October 9 in the Rose Bowl.

But Jamaica is good... :? :dunce:

Regardless of tribe trying to talk Mexico down, they played well for most of the tournament but just couldn't connect on a lot of their chances.
I am not going to argue Mexico didn't play well but even you have to admit that they were handed the QF and SF games.

The PK in the 120+4 minute of the QF game was a joke which prevented the game from going to penalties and the handball in the 90+ minute to tie the game in the SF game was even worse. The PK in the extra time of the SF game was legitimate but it never should have gotten there because the game should have been over already. Should have had 50/50 chance of making it to the Semis depending on how they did in Penalties and less than 1% chance of making it to the finals when the BS PKs were called. Can't blame Mexico (although the QF one was a complete dive) but those were BS calls.

We seem to have regressed big time and can't blame keeper on either goal. Big time rematch on Tuesday at home. Need to win big in that one.

We should have lost to Haiti…yes Haiti, that place still reeling from an earthquake 5 years ago. Either the other teams in CONCACAF got better, or USA took a step back (or a combination of both). Either way we shouldn’t struggle to beat Haiti and lose to Jamaica. Anything short of a finals appearance in the Gold Cup is a failure, and a loss to Jamaica is just embarrassing. No other way to put it, if you want to call that panic then so be it but this program is not as good as people want to think.
I figured my post during the Gold Cup is worth a bump. I didn't watch any of the loss to Guatemala, but it's safe to say USA soccer is reeling under Klinsmann. Can't help but think his days are numbered...

...which is good IMO. We've seen enough. Kinda funny how everything unraveled ever since Klinsmann botched the Donovan move for the last WC. The soccer Gods have done nothing but shit on Team USA since, and rightfully so.

Losing to Guatemala is bad enough, being outclassed by them is something else. We're in a freefall now and Klinsmann's days have to be numbered. Mexico would've fired him months ago.

How much longer is Dempsey going to be able to save the U.S.? US up 1-0

Edit: Bradley to Cameron on a set piece to make it 2-0 in 35th minute.

Big USA win over Costa Rica yesterday 4-0 to control our own destiny to advance out of the group stage after a disappointing performance against Colombia last Friday and save Klinsmann's job for now. Play Paraguay on Friday in Philly.

I wonder if the crowd in Philly will be any better than the poor showing in Chicago. I thought Chi-town was a soccer city, Philly surely ain't.

Eh, 39k last night. Not terrible. We'll see if Philly gets more - lot more soccer people here than you think. And now the US game in Philly is a win/tie in order to advance.

With that said, this version of Copa is making a boatload of money. Ticket prices are about 5x what they normally are when this tournament happens in South America, and even with the stadiums here not being filled to capacity outside of a few games so far, the tournament is on track to have 2x the normal attendance. Keep in mind, US fans are much more savvy than say 30 years ago. Nobody is going to pay $60 a seat to watch Haiti play Peru and rightfully so. The attendance for these less glamorous games will suffer. The more sexy games won't and haven't suffered. There have been capacity crowds for the Argentina/Chile game at Levi Stadium (69k for that game), the USA/Colombia game (67k for the same stadium), and 60k for the Mex/Uruguay game in Phoenix. And remember, this isn't a regular rotation for the Copa tournament - the regular rotation of the Copa tournament happened last year in 2015. People who paid money to see that one aren't really going to travel to see this one. And that's assuming South American people have the money or the means to come to the US to watch these games. These aren't European fans, they aren't loaded with money.

The organizers are getting exactly what they wanted from this tournament - lots and lots of money.

Pretty sure its the folks without the means that are coming from SA we are having issues with.

Also good to see USA win after that pathetic game to start the Copa.
