Nats absolutely destroying Harvey tonight. 7 runs in the 3rd, chased him at 9-1. Muck the Fets.

Phillies at Detroit for 3 starting tonight. Cabrera is day to day. Got hit on the knee yesterday by a pitch, and had to leave the game. Go Tigers!

Have a feeling a Phillies back to reality swoon could be coming as the schedule turns tougher. I'd like to see an end to Ryan Howard playing anywhere close to regularly, he's cooked.

You may be right. They've lost the first two Tigers games in a punchless manner. Good to see Mackanin bench Odubel the other night.

It was bound to happen - they were way too far ahead of the curve in terms of winning one loss games. But hey, it's still better than watching last year, that is, assuming that anyone watched last year.

Bite me. We beat them 2 out of 3 in Hotlanta. Have they won their third home game yet? :coffee:

Every team in MLB should beat the Braves 7 out of 10 games...even the Twins.

Any team who loses a series to the Braves deserves to be publicly shamed.

Thanks, and on to Chicago. The Phils actually played the Cubs tough last year.

Cubs dominated this weekend in every phase of the game. Nobody promised us a rose garden. Now home to see if we can get a fresh start against the Nits.

I caught the end of last night's game, a Phils win. Both teams were in 70s retro uni's. The Phils were wearing their 1976 pillbox hats, made more famous by the 70s Pirates.

MLB draft starts tomorrow. Who do the Phils take with the #1 pick?

I think they go with the kid from Florida - figure a guy like that could be up in the majors in 2 years. Seems like the best bet with the #1 pick this year.

Which kid from Florida? I know that several of their pitchers are projected to go in the first round.

AJ Puk. Groome would be an interesting pick, but Puk is the safer bet with the #1 pick.

I'll admit, I didn't see them picking the high school outfielder, Mickey Moniak. Hopefully the kid develops a little power, he didn't seem to have a lot but he his just a high school kid. 4-5 years down the road when the kid gets to Philly or not we'll see what type of pick he was.

Among the reasons the Phillies, an MLB-worst 63-99 last season, are picking first is their poor return on first-round draft picks the past 10 years. During the past 10 drafts, Phillies first-round picks have produced a total of 4.4 Wins Above Replacement, the fewest in the major leagues in that span (next closest is the Rockies with 5.6 WAR).

The other time the Phillies had the No. 1 pick, in 1998, they selected Pat Burrell, a third baseman from Miami. Burrell played his first nine seasons with the Phillies and finished his 12-year career with 18.8 WAR.

Since 2008, eight of the Phillies’ nine first-round picks have been high school players. None have reached the big leagues.

When beside never did the Natinals/Expos franchise ever win a World Series?
