Joe Mauer named AL player of the week. He has the second-most homers and second-most walks he's ever had through the Twins' first 50 games.

Joe Mauer's current OPS+ is 126. Twins first basemen to post an OPS+ above 125 in a season since Kent Hrbek:

Justin Morneau

That's it.

128 - Kent Hrbek's career OPS+
126 - Joe Mauer's current OPS+
121 - Justin Morneau's career OPS+

Joe Mauer's OPS through the Twins' first 50 games:
2016 - .816
2015 - .701
2014 - .712

That doesn't make that sweep look any better.

Make it looks worse.
Oh well, it's a 162 game season. But I guess when it's all said and done, and the Twins have lost over 100 of them, you can comfort yourselves with the memory of sweeping the AL West champs back in May. :kisswink:

Well, that's because the Twinkies won more games last week than they had the entire rest of the fucking month. And never mind that his BA had dropped 77 points in the three weeks leading up to last week. And, for his salary his OPS should be twice that. :coffee:

How much of an idiot is Goldschmidt for signing his contract? He will be 31 when it's done. Mauer is #14 on the list, behind Ryan Howard and Mark Teixeira. Twins got their money's worth out of Mauer when they were paying him 3-400,000 per season, and even 10 million his MVP season.

I think the same will happen with Goldie, as long as he doesn't taper off too much during the next couple of years. He is a "young" 28, if that's possible....just over 3,000 PA's in his career... It is a team option for '19 though...pretty shitty deal by his agent, all around. :ohno: :ohno:

Well the Twins have been doing better with the youngsters playing, but not enough to save General Manager Terry Ryan's job. Fired yesterday.

On May 10th the Twins were 8-24
On May 10th the Cubs were 25-6

Since then the Cubs are 34-32 and the Twins are 29-37

That's not that big of a difference given how both teams are thought of nationally.

Fuckin' D-Backs win 7 of 8, then turn around and lose 8 of 9. :ohno: :ohno:

And have lost 4 of their last 5. They were 18-18 on the 10th of May. Now? 41-57. :ohno: :ohno:

That works out to 23-39 over their last 62. :censored:

What does one have to do with the other?
