NEW YORK - General Motors Corp. took a key step toward its downsizing on Tuesday, striking a tentative deal to sell its Hummer brand to a Chinese manufacturer, while also revealing that it has potential buyers for its Saturn and Saab brands.

GM has an agreement to sell its Hummer brand to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. of China, said a person briefed on the deal.

I'm glad GM found a buyer. So why sell Hummer but "phase out" Pontiac? If there are 15 potential buyers for Saturn, there would have to be someone out there who would take Pontiac and keep the brand alive.

Simple - BHO told them to scrap Pontiac and sell Hummer/Saturn.

NO, they will be sending over a few thousand chinese workers in a few containers to work the plants. They live in the plants over there so they can use the old office buildings as dorms.
