Remember that this was the first game that Portugal has won in regulation. They had 3 ties in the group stage tying Hungary, Iceland and Austria then beat Croatia in extra time followed by Poland in penalties.

France on the other hand was 2-0-1 in group stage tying the Swiss in a game that a tie worked well for them and then has beaten Ireland, Iceland and Germany all in regulation. Of France's 5 wins, only 2 were 1 goal games.

I've always admitted to when I'm wrong, not sure why that's a shocker. My wife points out at least a dozen errors on my part everyday.
