I do NOT know a lot about guns but my thought was that somebody who could shoot could have calmly picked a pretty good number of them off. I was thinking of somebody who is like a deer hunter who is accustomed to hitting targets in fairly precise locations hundreds of yards off. In reading about Whitman I noted that Whitman hit one guy that was 1,500 feet away. I think math tells us that's 500 yards. Hope so anyway.
More like 216 yards away. 1500/6.93 = 216. :coffee:

The only way you could stop that sort of thing is if you outlaw guns completely thereby having to outlaw all hunting, etc.

Aside from that, I'll write again that the two biggest mass killings in our history were accomplished by guys using box cutters and a guy using diesel oil and fertilizer. If you're focusing on the weapon you're not focusing on the problem.
Sorry about the German, but we've seen this tactic before.

That's awesome that the DC snipers taunted their victims by yelling "Die Twatwaffle!" before killing them.

You know, I thought about establishing a separate thread. Someone probably will. But I think the thing being reported from France right now where someone killed a bunch of people by running over them in a large truck fits in here. Right now I'm hearing 30 dead. I'm sure that will change.

You're missing the point if you think you can solve the problem by focusing on a particular weapon. If people want to do shit they're going to figure out a way.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I completely agree
and you've given great examples - as well as - the latest insanity in France proves again the point

I liken it to the never ending drum roll to raise taxes - in kind of an inverted sense
Giving our Federal Government MORE MONEY is a level of insanity that should actually frighten all Americans

We need to start cutting the crazy bastards in congress off
They've collectively lost their minds

:ohno:

Guns are the problem
the same way more Federal tax revenue will solve the problems - NOT
Q: Name something that offends Republicans?
