I often hear how the economy is too complex for the President to really have an affect during his term yet somehow he's on the hook for the above things?

Bad since 2008:
ISIS
Bank consolidation
Health insurance system not fixed
Money in politics
Sun Belt expansion
Rising tuition
Money in politics

Good:
Weed legalization
Gay marriage
EWU Football

It's really been a push.

Seems unemployment is a push. 5.8% in 2008 and 4.9% right now. Now underemployment rates may be a lot higher now, I don't know.

Money :?

While I won't disagree that money in politics is a problem, but it pales in comparison to monetizing the debt, QE1 - 3, and 0% interest rates.

I've really never thought the president had much control over the business cycle, but if Bush could steer a hurricane into NOLA I guess Obama could make the market go up somehow.

My point is mostly how optimistic do you FEEL these days with the direction of the country? Violent crime might be statistically trending downward, but the media pounces on every event seemingly with the intent to further the anti-gun folks' agenda. I doubt anyone could make a coherent argument that relations between the races and relations with the police aren't headed in a bad direction. It feels to me that the US is becoming much more racially divisive and erring too far on the side of political correctness at the expense of good discourse. That's kind of my perception, YMMV.

Since there are fewer full time jobs now than there were 8 years ago, and the number of part time workers has increased exponentially, I'd say a 4.9% unemployment rate is wishful thinking. :coffee:

I saw an article recently that said long term crime trend is down but 2015 saw an increase. Will that trend continue or was 2015 an anomaly?

Okay I'll start there..

Unemployment - PUSH (hit low in 2009 crash)
Guns - I just purchased a few over the last month - Gun sales up 300% since 2008 (never been better)
Racism - I believe people don't alter what's in their hearts on a whim - but it is a strong NEWS topic
Hate - Hate sells
Religion - By this I can only assume you mean Islam - Yes Islam needs a reformation

Money in politics is what leads to things like QE.
If you want to take it to the nth degree, yes. But you can say the same about waking up in the morning. :?

QE is a last second Hail Mary...a failed philosophy. Nothing more.

Obama is an abject failure at everything, people are not snatching up guns because of him they are not worried about him at all.

He has made the country less safe and people want to defend themselves from the hate groups he helped create that are attacking America from the inside out.

He even has people like you buying guns (kind of....410) and then posting pics online to fit in even though you show why people get shot in their homes from unsafe handling of firearms.

Simple math would tell you that this government is inept and will never get guns from Americans without sending a lot of retrieval agents 6 feet under.

They (donks) are here in Cali. Guns have been flying off the shelf here. By others of course, I would never buy a gun. Guns are bad and guns kill people. ;)

Even if you did decide to buy a gun I know your smart enough to not post picture with your finger inside the trigger guard, but you might be one of those guys that holds a handgun sideways.

I know the guy that owns WADE'S GUN SHOP in Bellevue Washington personally
And every time OBAMA speaks about guns
The republican party responds
the NRA doubles down

and gun sales skyrocket

Because everytime he speaks he makes our country less safe.

Seriously, what country, army or Islamic group would be afraid of the USA with this pussy running things?

LOOK AT HIM!!! How do you take that seriously? He is the definition of pussy and has ZERO leadership ability, Bush looks like Hannibal compared to this tool.
