OK, dipshit, so if one of your kids is gay and wants to get married, are you gonna be the prick that you are now about it?
If he wants a civil union, I will support it, but if he wants to call it "marriage" and $h!t all over religious people, he will not have my support.
So you will love them only if they abide by what you want???

It's called "tough love". Something you pussies wouldn't know anything about.

I hope that wasn't directed in my general direction.

Oh, so alienating a family member is "tough love". I'm all for it then. Don't expect any respect from me then. Since it's not suitable to the "fantasy dream life" that parents unreasonably want from their children. Parents DO NOT have the right to live their life through their children. If that's the case, then the parent don't want what's best for the child just what's best for them. That never ends well.

I don't know, how do you feel about wolves?

I will see what I can do. Shoot me the dates and times...and the type of car you want.

Then I will reserve you a Smart for2, a week later than when you need it, and double charge your card. Work for you?

He didn't say he'd alienate them. He said they wouldn't have his support.
I can't speak for Native but not supporting is not the same as not loving or intentionally alienating. It is entirely feasible that a parent with a homosexual child could accept their homosexuality and support their efforts to join in civil union but could not support their efforts to marry their partner for religous reasons. I would disagree with them but I could understand their position.
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Exactly. Although personally, I wouldn't have a problem with either if my child were gay.

So if your son/daughter was gay and got married and showed up to your house you wouldn't let them in? You wouldn't go out to dinner with them? If he/she called and needed some money for whatever reason you would just hang up the phone?

Of course I would let them in the house, go to dinner, answer the phone, etc. The money would depend on the reason.

If, for example, they used the language and tone of about a third of the posters on the cs political threads, they wouldn't get a damn penny.

Why are you making all that crap up? Do you approve of 100% of the actions of your children?

I don't have any children, but I don't see judging them for being who they are?

I judge them, myself, and everyone else for their behavior.

I used to wonder why GLBT kids so often run away from home and up homeless... i didnt realize there were still parents in the world like that native... thanks for opening my eyes to a sad reality...

If I had a kid who came out of the closet, I would be disappointed... not for any other reason than because of how much harder their life is going to be in a society that can't just accept them for who they are. Other than that, unconditional love. Now, gay or straight, if my kid was engaging in careless or dangerous activity (sexual or otherwise) I would have a BIG problem with that... but those are two very different things.

Religion has flaws, no doubt, but not as many and not at egregious as the irreligious and narcissistic "progressive" political thinkng currently in vogue.

The primary determinants of "who we are" as humans are the choices we make. I do not begrudge gay lifestyle or civil unions of consenting adults and I do not hate gay people.

But the gay "marriage" thing is a man-made chimera made of whole cloth.

Religion has flaws, no doubt, but not as many and not at egregious as the irreligious and narcissistic "progressive" political thinkng currently in vogue.

it appears that it affirms your uninformed worldview that every progressive in the world is somehow a Godless communist with no "moral values" - however that's a fairly heavy dose of bullshit.
