Re: Separate but Equal Safe Spaces
It's still the Boomers fault. Entitlement parenting came into vogue with them, and there are significantly more Boomers (and hence their kids) as compared to whatever kids the GenX'ers have yet. Regardless, though, entitlement parenting has continued even after the Boomers, so it's not being corrected. No one is ever at fault for something they did, it's always someone else's fault. That's the message out there today and the war on speech on campus's that started all the way back in the 1960's is still in full swing today. Trigger warnings, privilege checks, etc aren't going away. Look at all the bruhah that came up when NBC had the audacity to credit a male coach for the performance of a female swimmer (heck, just using the terms male and female are verboten these days, and there are five genders not just the two we always thought there were). Nevermind that no one says boo when the commentators bring up Michael Phelps coach (Bob Bowman - he's mentioned so often you can't not know that). Crazy world we live in, and it's getting crazier.

And most of those kids, born until the mid 90s have graduated or are getting ready to.93henfan wrote:Millenials are generally kids of boomers. Now go to your rooms boys!

I think it all goes back to those pussy parents born around 1730.GannonFan wrote:It's still the Boomers fault. Well, it was those parents who had the kids who would go on to rebel and form this country, so you might be on to something. Assuming we are even allowed to talk about those people anymore. Remember, most of those folks back then were racists or had slaves or wouldn't let women vote or some other pox so we're not really allowed to talk about them. Heck, there should be a trigger warning whenever you mention a date that's older than 20 years ago. Don't want to set someone up to inadvertently have to refeel whatever horror they associate with that prior date.Ibanez wrote:I think it all goes back to those pussy parents born around 1730.GannonFan wrote:It's still the Boomers fault. Indeed, quite the vicious circle with that one, we need a new term, although with my privilege checked at the door I'm unable to provide any comment.Ibanez wrote:You said trigger! YOU CAN'T SAY TRIGGER!GannonFan wrote:

My kids have one of each.BDKJMU wrote:College kid now (mostly 18-22) would have as many if not more Baby Boomer parents (now in their early 50s-70) as opposed to Gen X parents (now mid 30s to 51)
