1970-76 were very prosperous for people on the small farm. The 1980's thru were very prosperous for my line of work. Just going by what I experienced, not what the news media told me.

The best season was the one that bridged the two, the '89-'90 tv season. Sure, it continued on, but the show slipped a little as it got older. And Winnie was hot at any age - considering I'm only two years older than her, that was entirely appropriate to have that opinion. :thumb:

It was a great time.

I think the music was better in the 60s and 70s though.

The best part I remember about Wonder Years was Kevin's older sister. Olivia d'Abo.

In fact, I can still crank one out to Conan the Destroyer, because she was my age at the time.

I must've been a little younger, because although she was fine, she was no Winnie Cooper. If she used her regular British accent, though, it may have worked - accents are very nice. (I know, it wouldn't work for the story, but a guy can dream).

No apologies from me, there was some excellent music in the 80's, and pretty eclectic too. I think you're selling the decade short on that aspect.

Sure it is. If you're 13 making batches of cookies to a 15 year old in a movie. You can do it 30 years later no problem.

I was born the year Wonder Years came out...I first saw it on Nick at Night about 95 or 96. Became obsessed with it. 8 year old me was in love with Winnie...I'm now 28 and that hasn't changed.

I hate Dancing with the Stars, but watched her on it. I stopped watching when she was eliminated.

I went 80's, mostly because that was the decade I was coming of age. Music was good and varied. Music in the 70's was great too, but the '90's and '00's were a musical wasteland IMO. :twocents:

Wonder Years pilot was January of 1988 (just after the Super Bowl). I was a freshman in high school (9th grade). The show had the kids in 7th grade that year. Nothing wrong with a two year difference. :thumb:

Anybody wishing for the 80's to return on "economic" grounds is an idiot...

30 year mortgages were 14%
U.S Automakers were getting their collective asses handed to them
U.S. Agricultural exports were at an all time low
The 1980's is marked as the start of the international OVER BORROWING that we live with today

Nah, I was a kid watching Gannon play. I started watching the Blue Hens from the womb, hence why I was watching them in my teens. I just happened to go there since they had a good ChemE school.

Well, the 14% was already down at the time from the 18% to 20% that came before it. Couldn't fix all the things that went wrong in the '70s in just one decade.

Economically speaking the 00’s weren’t bad until shit hit the fan in 07-08. Considering it's an older group posting here, I’m sure most of you lost considerable retirement investments/savings (and maybe that 3rd summer home) during the crash. However for a fresh college grad that was able to hang on to a job during that meltdown, it was never a better time to dump significant coin into a 401k 8-) …but yeah I voted for 90’s because Dave Grohl. :coffee:
