Actually it isn't mine either. I do find it slightly funny though when some one has the political positions that Bernie has where we should tax wealth (a lot) to help those that need it that you wouldn't consider just having two homes and making a size able donation somewhere. I mean if you think it is ok to take from others why not do the right thing yourself?
Sure. Again I don't know how much he gives to charity already and I don't know what the appropriate amount is.

I also don't look at taxes as charitable giving. And I don't check to see if my friends are paying their fair share or are giving enough. I want reasonable tax rates that cover the cost of America for everyone but...Kalm.

You also weren't running for president on the premise that the system is Rigged and we should tax the shit out if people wth money to fix it. Look under normal circumstances I could give a shit. I don't think Bernie is loaded (not like Hillary) but I think if you really believe in what you say you shouldn't turn around and one month after stopping your run As the champion for the lil people buy your third house. Just my humble opinion you look like a hypocrite

Bernie is a dope
Via Daily Caller:

Sen. Bernie Sanders was once so work-shy, he got kicked out of a hippie commune in 1971 for avoiding duties and distracting residents.

So says the forthcoming book “We Are As Gods” by Kate Daloz, which documents the story of the Myrtle Hill Farm commune in northeast Vermont.

The Vermont senator and presidential candidate visited the farm in 1971 for research purposes. The 30-year old Sanders was writing an article on natural childbirth that appeared in a newsletter for the Liberty Party Union’s magazine Movement.

“Endless political discussion,” and a distaste for work allegedly resulted in Sanders being asked to leave the commune, according to a report from The Washington Free Beacon.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. Al Swearengen

So? Some people do well and still believe in a more socialistic system and higher taxes at the top end despite their economic position. If Bernie was suggesting that all wealthy people should give up their earthly possessions or at least limit themselves to just two houses at the most, I'd get your point. But...

we can disagree on whether he is a hypocrite but not whether he appears to be one. Also my point was that if a life time of politically elected jobs gets you this then we have a totally different problem.

It's not that he paid "only" $600K. It's that he paid $600K for not his primary, nor his second, but his third home.

It's OK. Bernie turned into what he hated the most (allegedly)...a beneficiary of the rigged system he supposedly hated so much. He won't be the first, nor the last. :kisswink:

No one who has a third house worth $600K should ever be considered Middle Class or even Upper Middle Class.

I'm not rich
and in March 2017 I will have 2 houses around that price range
and in a few years a 3rd isn't out of the question

I've never made much more than $150K a year
and many years I made far less than that

14 years ago I lost everything in a brutal divorce
and as an almost 40 year old adult (back then) was working 2 full time jobs in Boston
it took a long time to recover from that financial beating

So..
when I hear that some 70 year old man who's worked his entire life
is buying a third home for $600K and that makes him somehow a FAT CAT
I have to look hard at the motivation of that viewpoint

I've worked with 35 year old corporate leaders that had Yachts that cost more than that
and that's not even getting into their private Jet and their multitude of homes

I think we might be focusing on the wrong thing here...

We should absolutely examine our political leaders lives - without question
But a 70 year old man who's worked his whole life buying a moderately priced 3rd property

should that be "Newsworthy"..?

You aren't running for President on the kind of platform Bernie was.

You can try to make it irrelevant all you want but the premise of this thread is just as SPOT ON as one about a family values Christian Republican getting pinched for soliciting underage prostitutes.

Edit: and before you or anyone else gets in a tizzy about it... I could care less what Bernie Sanders does. Or anybody else for that matter. Just don't go on a national stage and make open criticisms of society and then behave in the same manner two months later

Not going to pile on Chizzy here, he had his ass handed to him very handily. I will add that I trolled my buddy on FB (he’s a hard core socialist and bernie fan that ditched bernie for hilldog in a heart beat :dunce: ) who seemed to take a “he’s just living within his means” stance. Needless to say I countered with the same points made here and FB quickly deleted the thread within 30 minutes.

Isn't the median home price around $300k? A house, regardless if it's a 2nd or 3rd home, that cost double that amount is hardly moderately priced. Again, you're failing to take into account the differences in real estate markets.

The median existing single-family home price in the Northeast rose 1.6%, to $273,600, in the 2nd quarter of 2016 compared with the 2nd quarter of 2015
