Bill Murray is just pure brilliance.

He is. The man is funny, thoughtful and generous among other things. He's neighbors with my friend Tommy (Citadel, '07). Bill's bowling team parties at his house on Monday night. Every Monday afternoon, Bill will remind my buddy about the get together, invite him and then send over beers and food that evening. My friend got married, came home from the honeymoon and Bill had given them a huge and expensive gift basket and had someone go in and clean the house. He's a decent human being. Bill frequently pulls the trash and recycling containers to and from the curb for his neighbors as well as handing out full sized candy bars while dressed and acting like like Carl Spackler.

He also pees on the front lawn which none of the neighbors seem to mind.

I've walked the streets of NYC a lot in the 80's. Apparently the same joy was experienced there too.

I know there are a lot of silly sports in the Olympics, but I've had it with swimming. Do we really need 73 different events ? Why not have a backwards 200m in track? Or a 400 where you have to hop on both feet? Why not? Because it would be stupid to have a race where you are forced to do a motion that is not the fastest way to the finish line.

Track does have hurdles, steeplechase and racewalk which are not the best way to reach the finish line. There are 17 men's and 17 women's events in swimming. Contrast that with the 24 men's and 23 women's events in track and field (women only do 20k walk and not both 20 and 50k like the men) - 8 of the men's events and 8 of the women's events are field events (not counting the multisport events for each sex - decathlon and heptathlon)
