Landon has a long career a head of him, once he's done racing, on TV for NASCAR or anyone else. I'm sure you're too old to follow social media but Landon crushes all aspects of it. He's on TV each week with NASCAR.

No, he doesn't have a thick southern accent, wear beat up farm clothes, eat red meat 24/7, have a toothpick in his mouth at all times, etc...

Yes, he wears fitted/designer clothes (even his fire suite is tapered and cuffed in a fashionable way), runs triathlons (he and his father completed on in Ireland over the off week last week), is vegan, etc... but the kid (he's a whopping one year younger than I) can drive the hell out of a under funded car. Him in a good car would be a top 15-20 driver I'd bet
Wow, what an overreactive, condescending post. No wonder everyone hates millenials.

I guess I'll pass on the attempts at humor with the Clenzster.

Last year's Aug night race (I was there), aided by Steven Tyler concert and Gordon's last race there, was close to a sellout (capacity listed at 153k). There were estimates of 150k, the biggest crowd in 8 years.
http://www.johnsoncitypress.com/Motorsp ... -the-sport
Night Aug Bristol race is the best pre race atmosphere of the tracks I've been to.

This past Sat night, despite the rain delay and threat of more rain, looked like was going to be another big Aug night race crowd- way over 100k. WAY better than this past April's pathetic day race attendance (I was there) we talked about on here, which had to be percentage wise one of the worst ever for Bristol- didn't look like more than 50k. Well, by the time time they got the race started yesterday evening couldn't have been more than 30-40k in the stands. Was even emptier than April..

Jr. announcement on rest of the season is expected possibly this afternoon.

He needs to be a man and get his ass back out there. A concussion doctor, under threat of malpractice, has no incentive to clear him. Jr. just needs to sack up and drive. His dad has been murmuring "puussay, puussay, puussay" from his grave. I hope Jr. hears it.

AAAAAANNNNNND Junior is out for at least another 2 races, Michigan and Darlington, with still no timetable for his return.

When this whole thing 1st broke last month with the announcement that Jr was going to miss Loudon I was 100% sure he would return. After all, with today's concussion awareness, we see it all the time that football players missing a week due to a concussion. With the hits they take in racing its no surprise to see a driver have a concussion and miss a race. But the longer and longer this thing has gotten strung out the less and less sure I've become. If Jr still has concussion symptoms from a wreck that happened at the Michigan race 10 weeks ago, then there is something seriously wrong there. I'm no doctor, but I don't believe normal concussions take at least 3 months to heal. Jr has been racing for 24 years and has had numerous concussions. He's accomplished everything on the race track except for winning a championship.

He certainly doesn't need the $$. He is one of the doz richest athletes in the US with a net worth well over 300 million $$. He
-owns very successfull Junior Motorsports which field 2 full time Xfinity teams that is adding a 3rd full time car next year, and fields a truck in the truck series
-owns a media production company that has had racing related show on the Speed Network (now FS1) and one on ESPN2
-owns a couple of bars named Whiskey River in Charlotte and Jacksonville, FL.
-co owns with Rick Hendrick a couple of car dealerships with
-has partial ownership in Pacucah International raceway

Bootie Barker predicted on race hub today that Jr will not only not return this season, but is done racing and will retire...If Jr does retire I will be disappointed but not surprised. At least I could say I went to Junior's last race at Kentucky in July..

I noticed that. Everyone else is stepping it up, or NASCAR found something in all these inspections they've been doing and quietly tapped the TRD/JGR partnership on the shoulder and told them to knock it off.

Holy jeebus what a snoozer of a race so far today. As of lap 100 (of 200), everyone from third place back is at least ten seconds off the pace. Everyone from 20th place (Tony Stewart) back is lapped.

This is almost as boring as watching an F1 or Indy race.

First Sprint Cup victory for Larson. Nice to see the excitement, actually.

Wow, it was a bad day for cars ending in 8.Really weird..
-Kyle Busch spins early, finishes 19th.
-Truex leading early, one of the top cars, but this time it wasn't the usual bad luck but totally self inflicted. Think it was 2nd pit stop the jack man has a brain fart & drops the jack early before the left rear is on. Truex starts to go with only 3 tires, totally tears up the left rear hub. Restarts 9th. Next pit stop comes in 8th and they have a lug nut fall off on while changing one of the right side tires that costs them a few seconds. Then the damage on the left rear hub turns into a big sail at an aero sensitive track and Truex finishes 20th.
-Alex Bowman driving Junior's #88 qualified 6th, was running top 10 on lap 49 of 200 when he had an engine issue that they have to go behind the wall to fix. Crew chief Greg Ives said was "just a wire"..Come back 5 laps down in 40th, & end up finishing 30th..
-Johnson qualifies 2nd, & after leading 37 laps had an issue on later pit stop getting the car fueled. Then later comes in for an unplanned pit stop thinking he had a right rear going down, which turned out not to be the case. Still finishes 6th.

I've posted this before, but it's worth watching once a year, especially on Darlington week.

Cale Yarborough in 1976 when he was my favorite driver and I had just become a huge race fan. The good old days, when you really had to drive the cars. Love watching Cale work that wheel:

Absolutely. I'd already attended races as Dover, Richmond, Martinsville and Daytona by then. I believe I've posted several pictures of myself with various drivers (Yarborough, Waltrip, Petty, Allisons, Jarrett, Parsons, etc) in the 70s.

Did your parents not let you attend sporting events before you were 18 or something? :suspicious:

FYI Ivy, this is my earliest memory of a moment at a live NASCAR race. Little 93henfan is somewhere there in the stands. My uncle and cousin were huge David Pearson fans and were going absolutely bonkers. The joke running around was that STP stood for Second to Pearson:

One of the best finishes ever.

Sure, but my experience was limited to baseball, and I didn't become a hard-core Phillies fan until I was 10.

There is quite a bit of nuance that goes into a kid learning baseball. For a five year old, when your dad says, "look at that bright orange #11 Holly Farms Chicken car, that's our guy", it's not hard to understand the sport. You pull for the bright orange car to go faster than the blue and red 43 car, the red and white 21 car, the green and white Gatorade 88 car, etc...

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will miss the rest of the 2016 Sprint Cup season as he recovers from concussion symptoms, it was announced Friday.

"I wish I could return to the No. 88 team this season," Earnhardt, who has not competed since the July race at Kentucky Speedway, said in a statement. "To say I'm disappointed doesn't begin to describe how I feel, but I know this is the right thing for my long-term health and career. I'm 100 percent focused on my recovery, and I will continue to follow everything the doctors tell me. They're seeing good progress in my test results, and I'm feeling that progress physically. I plan to be healthy and ready to compete at Daytona in February. I'm working toward that.

Yeah, he's never really had a lot of backbone and I don't think he stands up to his doctors. They obviously have no incentive to clear him. He's a multi-millionaire patient for life to them.

Dude's never been right mentally since his dad passed, and I'm not sure if a lot of people would be either if they too lost their dad in front of their eyes. Plus he's engaged. Good chance he takes his buckets of money and hot piece of ass and quits.
