I take no issue with the statement that politicians use the military inappropriately sometimes. But to insult the fighting man is about as low as you can go. It's disgusting.
We all have our reasons for serving. I served and have 2 kids that served and it was a good thing for all of us. Each of us had a different reason for joining and it wasn't any of what Cluck and Hound are talking about.

I personally don't give a shit what anyone else has to say about my service and could care less if anyone ever thanks me for it. I got what I needed out of it and served my time honorably. I have no issue with someone having an opinion on what a politician does and they deserve criticism for bad decisions. The troops are doing their job and do a damn good job of it 99.99999% of the time. I don't care if hippies want to go back to the 70's and blame the troops, it just shows their ignorance.
I really do have issues with people that don't give a shit at all. Have an opinion and then be willing to defend your position. Apathy is our biggest opinion IMHO. Have a good reason to be against something and be informed and we can discuss it civilly all day. Be a retard, and I am like 93, no point in even having a conversation about it.
Who blames the troops anymore?
Most people go in with good intentions, although that doesn't dismiss the silly risk they are taking. Of course, there always seem to be some army whack jobs that like to kill/torture for the hell of it, but we see that in our police departments, politicians, firemen who like to set blazes, and some excessively stern second grade teachers.
What I am saying that it is a stupid game to play to risk your life for someone else's gold.

Hate me for the truth...but if someone has a better way of reaching their goals, then they should choose that route - it most likely won't involve killing civilians and being shot at by psychos who don't want you there.
Our troops, like the troops before them, including the Germans, just follow orders.
Of course, some of those orders, and missions, are stupid, and we are killing people that normally would not give a rat's azz about "Merica...except that we bombed their village and killed their sons and daughters. Soldiers should be able to see, and understand, that before they sign up. Some do, some don't. The ones that don't see the stupidity of us being in Affy, Iraq, Syria, etc....well, that's effed up.
Speaking of which, why in God's name would someone go to Syria....seriously...that is fvcked up. We have been helping the Kurds, and are embedded with them...and now we help the Turks, who are going to kill the exact same Kurds our boys were helping?
"Hey, see those tanks? Their our allies...and they are here to kill you. Sorry about that...now you're toast. See ya'!"
Can anyone explain that?

Beuller?
And in Affy, and Iraq (and a whole host of other places), we helped fund and arm, and in some cases, train, the same bastages that are killing our soldiers. We just had a soldier killed in Affy...for what?
Can anyone explain that?
So yeah, I think it is stupid to go into today's military. You're signing up...and your ass can be killed supporting Hillary, Obama, Bush, and fill-in-the-blank wealthy person, leaving your wife and child without you. That is simply a fvcked up decision.
We've always had foreign policy issues, but with today's media available to today's yutes, there is simply no excuse to not understand what you are being asked to do. Sure, people sign up...and most will not get killed. But what a dumb way to gamble with your life.
Oh, it seems as though some of you need a safe space when someone talks about the grunts in the military. The thing is, if MORE people actually spoke out about the misuse of our military, instead of complaining about the truth being told, then maybe fewer people would die needlessly and we could get around to helping our own people in our own country.
