As far as 89's experience. I would feel awkward following two females into a bathroom. If they were hot, I'd have to fight the urge to look over the wall. Or feel pressure to "push" the pee out to make it sound like I have a giant powerful tool pissing into a bowl. If they were ugly, don't want to be accused of the same actions.

As usual, Andy here is the only one who speaks truth and really understands the gist of the dilemma for most men.

I can't remember the restaurant, but in NYC a couple months ago there was a 'unisex' restroom. Signs in the restaurant simply stated "Restroom". One big room, all the sinks/mirrors down the middle, stalls on the side with doors floor to ceiling, 5 or 6 to each side. Instead of Male or Female, Guy/Girl, She/He, etc. it was just a picture on each door of either a urinal or a toilet. It was roughly a 2 toilet to 1 urinal ratio.

Hell yeah. My favorite pisser besides the granite wall was one at Devil's Backbone Brewery. Looked like a big, claw foot bath tub filled with ice. I was nervous there would be a lot of splash, but the ice just gave way as you went.

But you agree that two, big, multi-stall bathrooms next to each other and both being gender neutral is odd? So the 1 transgender person now is comfortable, while the 10,000 others that visit each day are not.

Truth be told, if there's going to be pushback, it will be from the females. I don't get the sense that guys give a crap where they go or who's watching. It's the females that will, when subjected to the idea of having to share bathrooms with guys, could speak up. Even when I was in college almost every floor was coed (they didn't allow in-room coed yet, not sure if they do now either) and there was always a vote on whether to make the two baths/shower rooms on each floor unisex or boy/girl. It almost always was voted by the girls to have a girls only bathroom and in the rare cases the vote went all unisex, the griping from the females was significant. Seeing how the three boys I have now use their bathroom, it's clear to me that the next generation of males isn't going to be any better taking care of business in the bathroom than the hordes of males that came before them.

I agree, since it's only at colleges so far where this has really been close to fully implemented. It's funny, I asked my wife if her elementary school has implemented the executive mandate to provide gender neutral bathrooms at her school (a k-4 school) and apparently it hasn't been discussed at all. And that's a place where sometimes, literally, the s**t does hit the fan, mostly in the boys room of course.

Well, first of all... I don't really care. As long as it's somewhat clean, it flushes, and there is ample toilet paper... I haven't encountered a situation that's caused me to give a (metaphorical) shit.

But, I already answered your question in my first response. It's not about social justice warrior reasons... but, just convenience. It sucks to wander the labyrinthine halls of a university building (or similar) only to find the wrong fucking bathroom and then having to wander around again to find the correct one. Nice to be able to just use the first one you encounter.
