I said you could only travel to a time where that capability existed. I should've said it's improbable to travel to a time when that technology did not exist (i.e. the past). Time travel requires tremendous amount of speed and power. Travel to the future, it could be possible as time flows in one direction which is forward. Travelling close to or at the speed of light could put you in the future. But you would have to surpass the speed of light to go back in time. You would have travel faster than 299792.45799996646 kilometers per second to, in theory, go back in time.

So my basic statement (poorly conveyed as it was) that travelling back in time isn't probable and high impossible.
In a presentation at the British Science Festival, particle physicist Brian Cox said that time travel is possible but only in one direction.

“The central question is, can you build a time machine? The answer is yes, you can go into the future,” the University of Manchester professor told the audience during his hour-long speech on Tuesday, according to The Telegraph. “You’ve got almost total freedom of movement in the future.”

Not tense at all. :thumb: I'm all for intelligent conversation but this is basically someone saying something and everyone going, "Nu-uh!" I shouldn't have expected more out of you all. Or a message board. Or a Friday.

No, you clearly said you couldn't go back past the date the technology existed (you were very clear to give a date), not that you couldn't go back at all. That's what I said. You can't travel back in time period.

I didn't fuck up. I've got no probably admitting i'm wrong and i'm the first to admit I don't always convey my thoughts in a clear manner, as I've clearly done here. I've said, theoretically, you can't go back in time. You seem to have issue with that statement. That's fine.

If anything, i've proven your statement that time travel can't exist as wrong. So, you fucked up. Well, I didn't. Highly regarded and respected physicists that are infinitely more intelligent than everyone on this board say it's probable.

But with our current technology, not possible.

Ibanez wrote:Theologically, you can only travel to another time that has the ability. So, if time travel is invented tomorrow, then Sept 10, 2016 is the earliest you ever be able to go back in time to. In other words, you can't travel in time to a specific point in time when the ability to time travel didn't exist.

hardly. That's simple math. This isn't.
Tell you what, admit your wrong about your statement and I'll do the same.

I'm still correct: its improbable to travel back in time.

With how many stars there are in the universe it is extremely likely that live is out there somewhere but there is no reason it would need to be close enough to know we exist.

I feel the same about the sheer number, but I would have to think there are planets that are FARRRR more advanced than us and I feel we're even close to discovering life on another planet, so it would seem somebody should have visited us by now.
