Meanwhile, the same poll showed Clinton’s support among that group plummeting from 90.4 percent on Sept. 10 to 71.4 percent.

Clinton’s nearly 20-point crash began Sunday, said Dan Schnur of USC. Sunday was the day Clinton was recorded collapsing while entering a Secret Service van at a 9/11 event.

I think you have to be very careful about that LA Times/USC poll and I think that it's very unlikely that Trump has anything like 19.6% among Blacks. I do look at that poll and it does concern me. But it's got some weird methodology.

I think you need to ask yourself if it's plausible that a candidate would go from 3.1 percent to 19.6 percent among a defined group in a week. It's not impossible. But it should be a red flag suggesting maintaining some skepticism.

Listen, Mr. Millennial, Johnson is the only candidate out there who supports limited government, a freer economy, social tolerance, and a generally non-interventionist foreign policy. He has taken positions that I disagree with on some issues, and he comes off as a bit of a flake, but he'd at least point this country in the right direction, and he's honest. If you want to give the middle finger to that, it's your prerogative.

Libertarians, for the most part, take govt out of our lives too much. Look, I get that the govt has overreached in a lot of areas. Heck I worked for the govt. But most of the overreach comes from one major issue. Many of the initial regulations put in place by the govt are for good cause. Let's say OSHA regulations. However, overreach occurs when these agencies try to find new ways to stay relevant and keep their jobs after a problem is solved.

The problem with very limited govt that Libertarians prefer is that these agencies wouldn't exist int he first place and business would regulate themselves.But history shows us this won't happen which led to the regulations in the first place.

I do like many of his social stances though.

Libertarians want less government like bank robbers want fewer cops.

It all comes down to the debates - if Trump can pull the rabbit out of the bag and look good in those while Hillary doesn't, the unimaginable could happen and he could win this thing. When two candidates are this bad, anything could happen. Fascinating stuff.

Hell, just being able to stand (or sit, not sure of the format) for two hours without fainting or going into a 10 minute long lung hacking fit will be a moral victory for her.

I think both of the candidates will be coached to take it easy in this debate. Hillary will want to come right out with accusing Trump of being the defacto national grand wizard of the KKK, but that hasn't been flying too well recently (see "basket of deplorables"). And when she goes into a screech owl soliloquy she looks bad too. If she does that, Trump can just sort of shrug, smirk, and look into the camera with an implied, "get a load of this angry ugly old bitch." If he can continually get her in that trap, she looks really bad. Current events with terrorism and police brutality don't really help the candidate from the sitting party either.

Nah, no way she's the underdog against Trump in this one. She's the establishment, she's been in debates before, she's the one running on her resume. Trump is a circus act and every bit the buffoon. And besides, Hillary's still the favorite, by any poll, to win this thing. Underdogs don't lead in every poll imaginable, even if the polls are narrowing.

But you're right, Trump's ability to look good on TV could work against Hillary. Just as all the GOP hopefuls who have fallen by the wayside have found out, it's hard to best Trump when it drifts into the realm of reality TV.

Ok more on my opinion about being careful about that LA times poll. The Black support was 3.1 percent on September 10 and 19.6 percent on September 16. Today is September 21 and that poll has his Black support at 5.9 percent. Here's a screen shot where you can see the blip that caused some idiot author to think there was some kind of trend going on:



I won't get arcane with y'all but there are also some serious problems with the LA Times/USC poll when you look at from the standpoint of sampling theory. If you want me to back that up I will but if not you can just take my word for it.

There are six of them but I only see two of them in the RealClearPolitics display that I check just about daily. Those two are ABC News/Washington Post and Monmouth. Here are the most recent results of those two polls with Johnson and Stein included as far back as I can readily see them on RealClearPolitics.com (results expressed in terms of Clinton vs. Trump margin):

9/5 - 9/8, likely voters, Clinton by 5
8/1 - 8/4, registered voters, Clinton by 6
7/11 - 7/14, registered voters, Clinton by 4
6/20 - 6/23, registered voters, Clinton by 10

Note that if 9/5 - 9/8 had been reported in terms of registered voters as the previous polls were, it would have been Clinton by 10.

Unfortunately I don't think ABC News/Washington Post does State by State. If it does I haven't been able to find any results. A Monmouth Florida poll including Johnson and Stein conducted 9/16-9/19 estimates Clinton up by 5 in that State. The last Monmouth poll I can find for New Hampshire was conducted 8/18 - 8/21 and had Clinton up by 4. I'm guessing we'll see a newer Ohio poll from Monmouth soon.
