I heard on the radio that 70% of those "protesters" that have been arrested over the last three nights have been from outside of North Carolina, according to their IDs. :ohno:

You know I like Joy Division. Ian Curtis was a pile of worm-eaten dust before that girl's parents ever met though.

I agree but would add protest all you want but stay on the sidewalks. Protestors should never be allowed to shut down streets or highways, and they should never be shut down without permits to accomodate protestors, inconveniencing thousands. They had that last night. I agree with what Guliani said yesterday:

"...to discuss the leadership and policing breakdown that has allowed riots to cripple major United States cities. In his view, the moment you allow protestors—peaceful or not—to take over the roadways, you have lost control of the situation and put lives in danger.

“Here was my rule, and I enforced it with zero tolerance,” Guiliani said of his policy as mayor. “You want to protest? You have every right to do that… You could have the sidewalks, but you couldn’t have the streets without a permit. And if you got a permit, there was a limit in terms of the amount of time.”

Guiliani emphasized that he unequivocally supports the First Amendment right to protest, but it is simply too dangerous to allow anyone to overtake the streets of city like New York or Charlotte.

“Yes, you have a right to make your First Amendment point, but you do not have a right to take away the rights of other people,” he said. “If you take the streets of Manhattan, people are going to die. I had ambulances going through the streets of Manhattan, and if they don’t get to the hospital in four minutes, the man is dead of a heart attack.”

Prior to Guiliani’s two terms in office, New York City had seen rioting and boycotts that ultimately lead to the demise of his predecessor’s (Democratic mayor David Dinkins) administration. While Guiliani admitted his zero tolerance policies didn’t make him popular, it did set the tone for a safer city.

“The first bottle you throw, I go find you in the crowd, and we go right to Rikers Island [prison], or my police commissioner comes to Gracie Mansion, we look at the video tape, and we find the guy in his house and put him in jail,” he said. “That’s why I had no riots in eight years, and I took over a city that had had two major riots in two years… I used to say, ‘Come on, test me. I have 41,000 cops. What do you have?’”

Ultimately, the former mayor believes it is up to the elected leadership and police commissioner to maintain order and protect the rights and safety of all in the community.

“I believe in the First Amendment right to protest. I don’t believe in breaking up a man’s store,” Guiliani concluded. “If you put [the protestors] on the sidewalks, you exercise control over them… The police should be demonstrating that they are exercising control… I bet the vast majority of African Americans don’t want to be involved in what’s going on there on the streets...."

At first - due to the unusual order of letters - I thought it said "White Science"
Which got a big laugh out of me

Then after pondering the word i figured out they were going for "silence"
which made it instantly less funny - which is a shame

Eh. And how many are from SC?

Charlotte is on the border with SC. Certainly shouldn't be 70% of those arrested... but, "out-of-state" could be pretty fucking misleading

Interesting.

I remember you being in favor of them taking over government buildings for a few months.

But, I guess they might have stayed on the sidewalks. I'm not sure.

More white rage. It's all been a lie since day one.

Lie #1: The drug war is all black and brown people's fault.
Truth: The war on drugs was created as a smoke screen to fund and fight so-called communist in Central America. (Arrest the black and brown drug dealers on the corner and give them 50 years in jail, but the old white man who brings it into the country, he'll get probation if that)

Lie #2: We have to get tough on drugs and dealers (Crack Cocaine) in the community, they lead to more violent crimes.
Truth: a reason to give black and brown people more tougher sentences in the justice system. Now since the heroin problem has gotten out of hand in white communities, now we treat this as a heath problem. How typical.

Just more lies in this corrupt criminal justice system. Bitch all you want, but people are staring to see the hypocrisy of this country. And it won't stop!!!

Did it seem to anyone else the lady who took the video knew Scott was going to get out of the car with a gun? She kept saying, "don't you dare".

They never found a gun at the car. No gun was observed on the video. This is what the Mr. Scott's lawyer stated after he saw the video tape.
