KC lost his father and brother.

Glad to see his is thriving in an environment that supports football. Many times KC has made sure he publicly thanked SHSU's support for him and the program.

KC has a DL today that we could only dream of having.

So true! I feel bad about it, but I fear that they could squeek by in some games and get i and play o the road at an NEC school and that be enough for him to get an extension.......I have ZERO faith that this will happen though......

Eh, Keeler was a dead man walking. The real issue was the President of UD at the time, Harker. He took over just after the disastrous fleecing of the season ticket holders that, to date, has resulted in more than 50% of season ticket holders leaving (was a high of 11.5k season tickets in 2008, and is somewhere in the 5k now). Harker was quite open about downsizing college sports, football especially, in terms of importance in the University's priorities. KC was opposite, he was pushing for more investment in football. They were oil and water. Harker made it known that KC wouldn't get anything and KC just withered on the vine. He was mailing it in in the last couple of seasons after losing in the NC title game in 2010 (Harker may have had something to do with the chain gang in that infamous game). KC had lost his fire to coach by the end (think his brother died during that time too) and just couldn't take the Harker beatdowns anymore. Brock, unfortunately, is a hire from that time and that philosophy - we're now 4 years into mediocrity and there appears to be no push to do any better. I think Brock is retained for the last year of his contract no matter what, and that's a shame. He's a nice man, but he's not much of a coach. I'd take a less nicer guy if he knew football at this point. On the bright side, Harker's been gone since June, hopefully the new guy has a different take on football's place at the University.

As for KC, he appears to have taken advantage of the fresh air that moving did for him. He has the support of the University and he's free to coach and he's thriving.
hey gannon, You are correct about Harker, except I believe that Harker led the charge on the seat licensing, not the other way around. As I remember, that was a Harker/Muir project. Harker came on in 2007 and Muir in 2009. As far as Keeler mailing it in, I disagree. I believe he was coaching with 1 hand tied behind his back, but I still believe he was trying to put a winner on the field, but when your President is strangling your program, it is hard to do.......

Gannon, you really think UD retains Brock regardless of this years outcome? You really think they bring him back for a lame duck season without a contract? I just cannot see Rawak and Assanis going that route. We have over a billion dollar endowment........400K is not much to cut bait on. They can even negotiate a payment in time like 100K per year for 4 years etc. I cannot see Brock pulling into the finish line this year with a losing record and getting the vote of confidence from the new admin. I think they are of a different mentallity with athletics and the showcase programs.....

I hope you're right, but I'll wait on evidence before I ever throw another penny at that program. I'm an honorary Missourian with regard to UD football. They've lost all goodwill from me. They have to show me something first before I will come back.

I'm worried that the mouthpiece posters, that is, the guys who will parrot whatever they are told by the coached and admin because they love being in the know, are saying he's back no matter what. Already saying the same bs that they came into the year with - "this is the year", "playoffs or bust". Now they're saying the same thing but that it will be next year, because you can't judge a rebuild until 5 years in. And it seems like they actually believe that crap.

hmm ok. I hope it does not happen. I look back on the last year and see Eric Ziady resign 1 month after Assanis is named President (maybe Assanis sat down with him and told him that their vision for UD athletics did not match an gave him options to leave without being fired) then 3 months later Monte Ross was fired with time left on his contract after a horrendous year and a star player leaving. Then Rawak is hired from UM and hints at changes being on the horizon in athletics. I just see these subtle things as being signs that there is a different attitude in this new regime that bodes well for Athletics and football in particular. Each of these things has not happened at UD in my time with the University ever before so glass half full says they will move on from Brock after another weak campaign. Maybe I am wrong, but I see things that are reason for hope.

I'm there with you. I clicked on the live stats twice and checked in to GoHens near the end. That's where the last ten remaining die-hard fans still post and I like to see their thoughts. Even the real rah-rah cheerleaders are ordering doubles tonight. The Dave Brock experiment is over. All that is left to see is how he is handled, which will be our first real glimpse at how the new Pres and AD view the significance of UD football. If they let him ride out his contract, it's clear that the program will be fully harkered.

Let me know if they bring someone in that has a chance to breath some life back into that snooze fest.

I just saw somebody post this on GoHens, and I had to lawl because I feel just about the same way about our poor neglected program:
A few years ago, I made the difficult decision to start rooting against the Hens in the hope that only bottoming out would bring about the needed changes. Well, we bottomed out and nothing changed, so I'm back to rooting for them, but only because I feel sorry for the handful of people who still seem to care.

We're sitting in perhaps the worse four years of football in all of UD history, with this year and last year being maybe the worst two year period ever. If you throw KC's last two years into the mix it's up to the worst 6 year period of all time. But at least KC had that NC appearance in the year just before that. I would take the ups and downs of KC's regime any day over the crappy consistency we are seeing now. I think we had zero passing yards going into the 4th quarter this weekend. You almost have to try to be that bad. There's no way they can let this guy be the coach more than one day after the season is over, and frankly, cutting the cord on his contract now would at least send the right message that this has to be turned around.

The says it all. Really, KC was not completely in the tank at the end. His last two years after Frisco were 7-4;5-3 , and 5-6; 2-6. His final 3 seasons in Newark were 24-13. We were not a lost rogue program as Ziady and Harker made it out when the fired him. Brock's last 3 years 12-16

Former players are even turning on the current coaching staff & they're doing it unison. Whether it's the sideline reporter or a couple former all-league guys that post occasionally on GoHens - they're all calling for change & are mystified and angry at the current state.

If this doesn't happen by November 23rd they'll lose many of the few fans they have left.

And when did Kevin Tresolini get neutered? Dude needs to use the power of his pen to pressure some change. Methinks he has gone into career-protect mode. There must be somebody in the UD BOT who can make a quick call and his shit could be in a box outside his locked office when he shows up to work, and he knows this.

I respect the Newark Post for actually writing a biting report once in awhile.
