Will still win the East and finish top 10, imo.
Not Georgia.

The announcement of the UGA-Vandy final score caused the biggest cheer of the day at Grant Field on Saturday.Pwns wrote:Skjellyfetti wrote:

Don't even know if I want to bother showing up for the Georgia Southern - App game.
WTF was our AD thinking hiring a defensive coordinator from a non-power conference school instead of Jamey Chadwell.

Yeah, I think it will be close as well.
And, I think the defenses of both teams are their strength.
24-17 App is what I'm pulling out of my ass.

Terrible start for us. Moving the ball well and stopping Jawja Suthun... but, two terrible turnovers biting us in the ass. One bad snap when holder wasn't looking on short field goal taken back for TD.
But, ref just called them Georgia State on the PA... so, I feel better.

Brian VanIdiot is available. Maybe he could coach our offense. Couldn't be worse.

Re: Sun Belt Thread 2017
that was too sloppy to be an app - georgia southern game.
hope y'all workout your issues going forward. i miss those old smash mouth games we used to play.
it's hard to judge a coach in their first year as HC. Satterfield went 4-8 his first year and a lot of folks wanted him run out of boone. i don't know if summers can turn it around like satt did... but, gotta give him at least a couple of years.
also, i feel bad for matt breida. kid is a hell of a football player and deserves a better offense his senior year.

In this case, you might see the unprecedented. A first year coach getting fired before his first season is over. It's way past the point of being able to turn it around. This coach inherited a team that returned 95%+ of its offensive production from a year ago....the #1 rushing offense in the nation last year, but somehow, this team is struggling to even make first downs? We barely had 50 yards of offense when the 4th quarter began.Skjellyfetti wrote:that was too sloppy to be an app - georgia southern game.

The way he acts, his mannerisms, what he says, even the way he looks on the sidelines all show a man who is in way over his head, a man who has bitten off way more than he can chew. He just looks lost.
The guy who sits right behind me and the guy who sits just a few seats down from me were both on the committee who hired Summers. Both were on the field for a presentation at halftime, but neither returned to their seats the 2nd half.
Re: Sun Belt Thread 2017
Even though App/GS hate each other for the most part, I can't rub your noses in this one. Summers' indecision on choosing an offense was like shooting fish in a barrel for our defense in the second half last night.

Did you get a chance to ask them WTF was going through their heads when they hired a guy who has been a G5 coordinator not even 2 full seasons?Baldy wrote: In this case, you might see the unprecedented. I do know that in his interview, Summers went on and on for 45 minutes about Georgia Southern and all the traditions, etc, etc, etc. He had them eating out of his hands.

Interesting game coming up on Saturday when App and Troy play in Alabama. The two are currently unbeaten (along with Arkansas State) in the conference.

The Sun Belt title pretty much gets decided this week with App @ Troy. App's D is hitting its' stride right now, and Troy has a solid offensive game. Should be a good game.
Of course, winning the Sun Belt is like being the tallest midget in the room, so there's that.
