You know, as of now Les Miles has the best winning percentage of any coach that has coached for more than 2 years at LSU. Below is a chart showing where he ranks. Also, as of now, LSU has more players in the NFL than any other school at 46. Alabama has 40 and Ohio State has 43. And Nick Saban left LSU in 2004. I'm not going to try to look all the players up but I think it's reasonable to say few if any of those 46 LSU players in the NFL were recruited by the previous LSU coach. And I heard last spring that they may have 7 players drafted in the FIRST ROUND this next draft. I doubt that happens but they're going to have a massive draft class in any case.

Another thing: LSU fans got all upset over LSU losing what was essentially a road game a long way from home to Wisconsin. Wisconsin ain't bad at all.

I think LSU may end up regretting getting rid of Miles. Yeah you can say that he should've won more with all that talent he recruited but the flip side is he recruited all that talent. No guarantee the next guy will be as good at that.
But does he have ties to Delaware?

I have been told by several geriatric men on GoHens that a Delaware tie is a MUST!

And he has ties to Delaware! All the guys on GoHens talk about how oh so important that is. :jack:

I think ties to Delaware is not a bad thing. I do not buy into the Big time assistant idea. It does not have to be a Delaware guy, but that should not rule out a candidate. Delaware football is more than a game on the field on satuurday. Ignoring the history and tradition of UD football is a mistake. It brought us Dave Brock and 3.5 years of $hit football that just gets worse. The HC needs to be able to embrace the history and tradition of UD football. Not just give it lip service as Dave Brock did.

:suspicious: That's a pretty big reach there 95. I don't think anyone has even hinted at it ruling out a guy because he is, but the other side of the argument seems to be ruling out a guy if he's not.

Maybe that's not what you're saying, but it sounded that way.

One thing UD doesn't want to do is make a rushed hire. I'm sure a lot of UD fans want to hear who the new hire will be within a month, with the 2017 recruit class a main concern, but even if you have to wait until late Nov or Dec it is more importmant to get the right man in place. I see UD's roster only shows 8 seniors/grad students, so it not like they need to sign a big class. There will be the inevitable offseason losses from guys who don't come back for one reason or another, even more so with a new regime coming in, but you can always fill the gaps in the 1st year with a bunch of transfers, like in 2014 Keeler did at SHSU and Withers did at JMU.

I think everyone realizes there won't be a new coach until likely mid December - you're not going to hire an existing coach (head coach or other) until that coach has finished their regular season. No one is pushing for less than a month from now - that would be silly.

There are probably 20-30 names speculated and probably at least a third of those with Delaware ties.

Off top of my head (forgive spelling): Nagy, McCarty, Cohen, Ciarocha, Venuto, Zwan

Other names: Stony's DC, Cuse's OC, Wesley HC Drass, some dude in like Mississippi or something who won a bunch of JUCO national championships, etc

Bunches more I can't remember
