This new Library would be the taj mahal of library's...people will come from all over the world to take pictures of it

I found out that there is a local measure:

Shall the terms of office of members of the York County Council be changed from two-year terms to four-year staggered terms, effective with the term of office commencing on January 2, 2017; provided that of those members of the County Council elected in the November 2016 general election, four of such members who receive the highest number of votes shall serve four-year terms and the remaining three members elected shall receive initial terms of two years only, and thereafter, all members of the York County Council shall be elected on a staggered basis for four-year terms?

Happens all the time where I live in the real local elections, like a school board election. Figure if they cross-file they'll get the votes either way of people who just pull the one party lever.

US Senator candidate for Utah:

I listened to one of the debates, completely clueless and incompetent. Had troubles forming complete sentences at times, almost felt sorry for her.

I have zero issues with Mike Lee. I've contacted his office before and they helped me out with the IRS. (not a personal issue, it was a non-profit). I couldn't get those a-holes to help me one tiny bit with our issues. His office opened a congressional inquiry and suddenly, I got some movement with the issue and got it resolved. His secretary called me several times and worked with me and followed through. :thumb:

NPR did a huge story on her campaign. Doesn't have a chance to win but they did the story nonetheless.

What in the living hell is wrong with people? This measure has to pass right, even in MontCo? Tell me it will pass. I want to believe that our country is not completely derailing.
There are people that think the Council is doing a good job. They're not.

But, yes, I think it will pass.
Passed by a 2-1 margin!! This was WAY bigger news for me than Trump.

California voters approved a proposition to allow the recreational use of marijuana Tuesday as other states, including Nevada and Florida, expanded legal access to the drug. Voters in Florida, Arizona, Nevada and North Dakota have also passed marijuana measures Tuesday. Collectively, it's the closest the U.S. has ever come to a national referendum on marijuan

They need something to cheer themselves up with.
Gun control was on the ballot in four states, including California, which already has some of the nation's toughest gun-related laws. Voters there approved a measure that will outlaw possession of large-capacity ammunition magazines, require permits to buy ammunition and extend California's unique program that allows authorities to seize firearms from owners who bought guns legally but are no longer allowed to own them
All I can say is, fuck that place. Not going there anymore except for when I have to for work.

We had one that would allow unincorporated areas of our county to sell alcohol on Sundays. Passed with 70% of the vote.

We had three local measures on the ballot in Lodi. There were two city sales tax increases up for vote, one to support increased maintenance at local parks, and another to support increased manning at the Lodi Police and Fire Departments. Lodi's downtown Fire Engine #1 has been browned out for the last several years, and this measure would reverse that. Both sales tax measures looked to be on the path to victory when I went to bed at 0100 this morning.

There was also a bond measure for Lodi Unified School District that appeared heading to defeat as I went to bed.

Statewide, or at least in the CBS-13 viewing area (north of Sac as far south as Tracy or Modesto), there seemed to be a trend of local sales tax measures passing and bond measures failing. I'm not sure why that might be.

Not sure how I feel about this one. (not local to me but close to home.)

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=757&sid=4214256 ... -amendment
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Latest on the elections in Idaho (all times local):

10:08 a.m.

Idaho voters have approved a Constitutional Amendment that enshrines lawmakers' legislative veto power.

Idaho lawmakers have been using the legislative veto power to reject administrative rules created by executive branch agencies for years.

The practice was approved by the Idaho Supreme Court 25 years ago.

But federal courts have ruled that a similar veto function by Congress was unconstitutional and some states have deemed it illegal.

That prompted Idaho lawmakers to seek the Constitutional amendment to ensure they would not lose the option in the future.

Key state figures including Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter and Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden opposed the initiative.

Idaho voters rejected a similar proposal in 2014.

The amendment had widespread support from lawmakers.
