They didn't show up for Bernie, not sure why anyone was counting on them to show up for hilldog....and not sure why anyone will count on them to show up the next round either.

Don't quote me on it but there was an article last week stating that most of the people arrested at these protests either didn't vote or weren't registered to vote. I forget which one.

It's no shock that Trump can't be depended on to do the things he said he was going to do. His whole means of operation is saying whatever he thinks people want to hear at the time and lying as necessary.
But take a look at this final "Word Cloud" produced at the end of the campaign by polling on the first words that come to mind when Trump is mentioned:

You probably already know this but the idea of a Word Cloud is that the size of the text indicates the relative frequency with which people tabbed that terminology as describing the person in question.
Ironically, that word cloud was presented as evidence that Trump was going to lose. He didn't because Clinton had so many issues of her own, the Russians engaged on Trump's side, Comey acted as he did and we choose our President through the Electoral College system. But the point is that the Republican Party has now been correctly branded in a manner consistent with the Avik Roy quote I'm using as my signature.
I don't think it's a question of IF the Republican Party is going to fade into obscurity now. It's a question of when we'll wake up one day and realize that it's happened.

JSO, do you even understand what white nationalism is about? They're concerned about low immigrant IQ test scores and think national IQ determines economic success, they think different ethnicities have unequally-distributed genes for intelligence and genius. They think immigration is a form of white genocide. They are an anti-egalitarian (egalitarian in the sense that you use the word) ideology. Jon Stewart nails it.
This is what's wrong with he Democratic response.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/jon-stewart ... D=ref_fark“I thought Donald Trump disqualified himself at numerous points. But there is now this idea that anyone who voted for him is -- has to be defined by the worst of his rhetoric,” Stewart said. “Like, there are guys in my neighborhood that I love, that I respect, that I think have incredible qualities who are not afraid of Mexicans, and not afraid of Muslims, and not afraid of blacks. They’re afraid of their insurance premiums. In the liberal community, you hate this idea of creating people as a monolith. Don’t look as Muslims as a monolith. They are the individuals and it would be ignorance. But everybody who voted for Trump is a monolith, is a racist. That hypocrisy is also real in our country.”
Stewart said America wages a fight “against ourselves” because it is not “natural.”
“Natural is tribal. We’re fighting against thousands of years of human behavior and history to create something that no one’s ever-- that’s what’s exceptional about America and that’s what’s, like, this ain’t easy,” Stewart said. “It’s an incredible thing.”

Stewart has always been somewhat even-stevens about his comedy. Sure, he leans left more often than not, especially during his heyday in the Bush years, but he's typically not been as over the top as a Bill Maher type. The latter really exudes a genuine despising for anyone on the other side of the political spectrum. It's that type that has really helped to create the liberal elite that this election, partially, rebelled against.Cluck U wrote:kalm wrote:Jon Stewart nails it.This is what's wrong with he Democratic response.

Who said anything about the show?
"At a standup benefit the week before the election, Stewart recalled his 2013 Twitter feud with Trump, who had called him a “phony” and suggested that Stewart — nee Jonathan Leibowitz — was ashamed of his Jewish heritage.
“Vote wisely in November,” Stewart joked.
On the eve of the election, Stewart joined former colleague Stephen Colbert to blast Trump on CBS’ “The Late Show."
“Are you kidding me?!” he said. “Are you serious? That angry tax-and-draft-dodging little orange groundhog is running for president?”
