2016 Wentzadelphia Eagles Thread
Re: 2016 Wentzadelphia Eagles Thread
On a positive note, other than getting owned in the first half of his debut, Big V is looking impressive for a rookie at RT. That bodes well for the future and can allow them to draft skill players earlier next year. I feared that Pederson would draft more unknown firemen OL in the first round like his mentor, Reid.

Seattle toyed with the Iggles yesterday. They could have blown Philly out. Another shytty game for Agholor, and a learning experience for Wentz. Eagles are looking at 8-8 at best now. And the injuries yesterday didn't help.

It's baffling how they can screw that up. All three of those receivers split out to the left should have realized that. The coaching staff should have seen it too.89Hen wrote:Stupid illegal formation penalty that cost them a TD.... might have been a different game without that hankie.Ivytalk wrote:Seattle toyed with the Iggles yesterday. Maybe, but I got the feeling that the Seahawks took their foot off the gas pedal in the second half, both offensively and defensively. Merrill Reese and Mike Quick called Seattle's performance "dominating" throughout, and Merrill calls 'em like he sees 'em.89Hen wrote:Stupid illegal formation penalty that cost them a TD.... might have been a different game without that hankie.Ivytalk wrote:Seattle toyed with the Iggles yesterday. So you say. They looked like they were going through the motions for the last quarter and a half.89Hen wrote:No chance a Pete Carroll team EVER takes it's foot off the gas.Ivytalk wrote:

They did see it. Pederson was standing at the line of scrimmage screaming at them. As soon as the ball was snapped he threw his hands up. Didn't even watch the play unfold.CAA Flagship wrote:It's baffling how they can screw that up. All three of those receivers split out to the left should have realized that. The Eagles current receiving corps is dreadful. TEs and RBs are the only people who catch, sometimes. That one in the first half that went through Agholor's hands and then through his elbow and hip trap too are when I turned off the game. He dropped the same pass twice.

I don't know, I think 93's list covers the minimum 7-8 people talent gap we have right now. I mean, we're not terrible everywhere, just in a lot of places.bluehenbillk wrote:93henfan wrote:...aaaand that's a wrap, boys.

Always figured this was a 3 year rebuild. Now, having seen the complete failure of Chip Kelly to retain or develop any talent, I'll call it a 3-5 year rebuild. Gotta fix the OL first and get a stud receiver each of the next two drafts. DBs can be found in later rounds and FA. Next two or three drafts are going to be huge for the career longevity of Wentz.
The one bright spot is we have the franchise QB if we can keep his head on and unfractured.

Re: 2016 Wentzadelphia Eagles Thread
I agree - top priority has to be the protection of Wentz. Lane Johnson is another drug test failure from being booted from the league, Jason Peters probably only has another 2 years of real productive play, albeit with each year getting worse from the one before, and Kelce is still hit or miss as a center. OL can be gotten from FA as well as the draft, and it doesn't need to be a first rounder. The WR is where they really need something. Jordan Matthews is fine as a complimentary guy, but you need at least one if not two guys better than him. I still worry that Howie isn't the right guy for this - sure, Chip is primarily responsible for the near past, but Howie didn't cover himself in glory later in Reid's tenure and finding and collecting talent was a failing of that era as well.93henfan wrote:Always figured this was a 3 year rebuild. But regardless, protect Wentz and give him something to throw to - nothing else mattes at this point.

Re: 2016 Wentzadelphia Eagles Thread
The Iggles out-sucked themselves today. Wentz was all over the place, the O-line couldn't open holes for the running game, lots of stupid penalties, and no pass rush. Did I leave anything out?
That first half had to be the Eaglets' worst half of the year.

Wentz was terrible, and that's the first stinker I believe he's had. Completely off from the start. Very lucky not to have at least two INTs, and missed several receivers by a mile. And that was all just in the first half. I deleted the second half. That was really bad.

Re: 2016 Wentzadelphia Eagles Thread
Team is a TOTAL mess.
QB - Wentz really playing like a rookie the past month. He's got happy feet now, holds the ball too long, has lost accuracy, refuses to take any blame & is openly defiant on the play calling. Granted he threw 60 times yesterday so he has a point - hopefully he's a different & better QB when the offense acquires more weapons.
RB- Barren wasteland, by the time the team is good again Sproles will be gone, so Smallwood & Barner? Needs upgrade.
WR - maybe worst in the league
OL - needs a lot. Need two tackles - Peters has one year left & Lane Johnson is a modern day Ricky Williams with supplemements vs MJ. Kelce is mediocre
DL - Never has more $$ been spent with so little in return. Most disappointing unit on the team, you know other places they just don't have talent but these guys lack fire.
LB - Jordan Hicks and....garbage
DB - Safeties are OK, CB's are bad

I agree. The jury is out on Wentz until he gets some semblance of an NFL offense around him, but you have to hope we don't damage him permanently (his body or his psyche) before then. Maybe we get relief with Lane Johnson if he wins his court case, but yeah, Peters is nearing the end and Kelce sucks. And the defense just hasn't showed up for the past few weeks - how the Bengals score on each of their first 6 possessions is beyond me.bluehenbillk wrote:Team is a TOTAL mess.

Just a brutal team right now and we have Howie Roseman as the man who's supposed to fix all this. I'm not hopeful.

At least the Ravens should get a critical win in two weeks.

Yup, the Eagles have begun their 2016 Lay Down Tour, just earlier than expected. It must be brutal to have tickets to any of the three remaining home games.93henfan wrote:At least the Ravens should get a critical win in two weeks.

It's being brought to light that Wentz has horrid form, and it's getting worse.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/theres-som ... 27565.html
Carson Wentz doesn’t believe he has issues with his throwing mechanics. Some NFL evaluators disagree.
That was the takeaway after the Philadelphia Eagles’ 32-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, which featured a three-interception outing from Wentz and one of his worst performances of his rookie season. The quarterback has come back to earth after a stunning 3-0 start to the season. Now several personnel evaluators familiar with the Eagles and Wentz are pointing to a common thread, one that the quarterback and coaching staff may not share agreement.
...
That’s the common theme in the assessments of multiple NFL personnel evaluators who say Wentz is exhibiting some of the mechanical flaws that he illustrated prior to the NFL draft. And evaluators say they are manifesting in accuracy issues and the length of time it takes for Wentz to deliver the ball after making a decision.
...
Two issues in particular are sticking out to those who have viewed the rookie quarterback: a long-armed looping windup that needs to be more compact; and an awkward arm position in the middle of his throwing motion that is slowing down his delivery.
One NFC East source likened Wentz’s arm positioning to something from a baseball pitcher. Another evaluator said the rookie displayed “bountiful bad arm angles” during his throwing motion.
“[The] ball is dropped down, turned out, then looped back around,” one evaluator said. “With his long arms and that motion, [it’s] very hard to be accurate. Especially on the move. … [The] inability to get the ball out quick and on time is key.”
The motion was also something that concerned the Cleveland Browns in their scouting evaluations of Wentz, prior to their trading of the No. 2 overall pick to the Eagles. A Browns source told Yahoo Sports Wentz’s motion was noted in draft evaluations – though he also maintained trading the No. 2 pick was more about netting draft picks than not liking Wentz.
Interestingly, a league source told Yahoo Sports that restyling Wentz’s throwing motion was an important bullet point on the Eagles’ offseason docket, but that the team was able to make only marginal progress before the start of the regular season. According to the source, those efforts were spearheaded by Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and offensive coordinator Frank Reich, both former NFL quarterbacks.

Trust The Process. Put Joel Embiid on the DL (defensive line, not disabled list).
