Pwns wrote:You know why I think you find Mormons so interesting, Chizz?

As a group they are by and large financially successful and for the most part pretty smart as well and yet their denominations have some of the most unusual and (you might say) strangest tenets of any denomination.

They (and you might say Catholics as well) are a crack in the idea that the religious are ignorant and/or stupid crowd.

Personally, I don't understand why you don't just do the "well, that stuff Mormons believe is really weird, but is it any weirder than thinking a virgin had a baby who grew up to be a hippie carpenter who healed the sick and walked on water and had to suffer to save us from some force so terrible that even an infallible and all-powerful God can't do anything else to stop it" thing.
Absolutely ^
I do find them collectively fascinating
To me it's Catholicism x 2 in the illogically ridiculous category

Mormons (almost) entirely buy into the Catholic doctrine
Yet add two more levels of absurdity

And yet - as you make note of - they are collectively wonderful
Some of the sweetest kindest people you'd ever hope to meet
and frequently brilliant

And yet here we are....
The Book of Mormon is like a comic book of absurdities

In fact:
You could take a random comic book out of a stack of comic books
and easily find more believable gibberish and outlandish claims in the comic book than the book of Mormon
Anecdotal evidence aside, some of the sweetest, kindest, most generous and thoughtful people that use common sense and not the Bible to dictate their lives are Catholics, Jews, Muslims, various Christian domination's, Hindu, agnostic and atheists.

Although, some of the nastiest, rudest, illogical, ignorant people that have no common sense and allow the Bible to dictate their lives are Catholics, Jews, Muslims, various Christian domination's, Hindu, agnostic and atheists.

At least, In my travels. :coffee:

Really this is a thread about a group of people that I find fascinating
There's not much else going on here except that and your maniacal bonkers routine on the side

Not unhinged...you simply stated that you know more about Moranism than everyone else, and that they move as one big group with few dissenters...and it turns out that you know shIt.

And the funniest part is that when faced with reality, you go into a hole and claim everyone else is lying.

You really are entertaining. :thumb:

You and JSO should start your own denial club.

Awww...Chizzy. I'm sorry you can't take the truth. You've accused many others on here of not telling the truth about various subjects when they present things that differ from your view.

As I said, whenever you get out East, give me a ring and I'll introduce you to my neighbor. Meeting him still won't change your way of thinking...you'll just come up with some other excuse to block out things that go against your core.

There is definitely something wrong with your soul.

BTW, plenty of people on this site have met me and know I don't bother lying. The way people on this planet react to the truth is certainly entertaining enough in itself, but I learned very early on that I don't give a crap what people think so I simply tell the truth and let people deal with it.

You're not dealing with it well, but that's OK...that's on you. :thumb:

I regularly speak with a neighbor, and we ALWAYS talk about politics. His local church was very divided regarding this past election. And, my BIL's friend out in Indiana was certainly not on the same page as my neighbor. So, your theory that you know everything about Mormons has been debunked. What you should do about it is to go to CID's previous posts, Bloomington, IN, my local place of worship, and the other peeps that other posters have mentioned, and tell those damned (at least in the Christian sense) people that you do not like them not agreeing with you about what you think about them.

My experience is that mormons are very politically diverse. A good friend who I visited in Swaziland a couple years ago drinks coffee, is tattooed all over, drinks beer and curses like a sailor. She's also a dyed in the wool Democrat. She's also a Mormon, went to BYU too.

I'm not sure why Mormons are so monolithic to you. Are they not like every other religious group that has their strict adherents and also their ne'er do wells?

I agree with CID, I know quite a few Mormon families in Boise, SLC, Austin and Phoenix and they are all over the place politically. Especially the women.

One thing I will go along with is that 100% of them hate being teased about their magic underwear. Especially when you hide all of it from them.

I see Chizzy in a tizzy and trying to backtrack on his statement that Morans are monoliths in their thinking and acting. Only 59% consider themselves conservative. I know you didn't finish at Harvard, but if you do the math that means 41% aren't conservative.

That is a LOT different that what you implied on another thread. And, as we all know, when conservatives say they don't do or think liberal things, they are lying, so you can take that 59% and toss it out.

Face it...you put up some blither about you knowing Mormons and how they think (the article was a clown read, but you said it accurately portrayed how Mormons think), and you didn't expect so many people to actually have interacted with other Mormons to expose your ridiculous, narrow minded rant.

It's a big world outside of Chizzyville.

Oh, here's another thing you can chew on. My BIL's friend, the Mormon, wanted Pence impeached. The reason I know that is when a group us of were talking, I laughed about the Impeach Pence signs around Bloomington. Laughed hard. That triggered a rather strong response from underwear boy. That led to a fun conversation (or not so fun for some folks) in which I can state firmly that the guy is not on the same planet, politically, as my neighbor. Of course, I wouldn't know that because neither of those guys exist.

Like I've said, come on out East and meet my neighbor. Bring your wallet. I don't bet often, and I won the only bet I've made on CS.com. I'll gladly win another. And in this case, I won't mind taking your payment.

1.5% is not even a rational number.

Mormons are like any other demographic, and the numbers you are using make little sense. If you want to sit at the grown up table and be taken seriously you need to stop acting like this. :coffee:

Spin away Cluck... (You'll need more ALL CAPS exclamation points and emoticons)
Of the 41% other only 8% are Liberal

Think about that
In a country that is 50% Liberal
Mormons are 8% Liberal

From the same article you used:

How did Hilary get the Majority votes in the election..?

If you were to draw a HARD LINE like an election
where you're one or the other it's about 50/50 (see election results)
Uh, you're forgetting about the moderates, as well as the people who don't identify anywhere on the political scale. The country is not 50/50 between conservatives and liberals, it just ain't. :coffee:

The pussy.

Mormons raise top-shelf poon.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

So YOU believe the Gallop polls NOW then is what you're saying right..?

Which has Liberals as 1% of Mormons
