Kyle Busch Is A Disrespectful Punk

Post by UNHWildCats »

Following his Nationwide Series win Saturday at Nashville he smashed the guitar trophy after saying he wanted to share the pieces with his team.

There are better ways to go about sharing a trophy, one would to have had the artist commission replica guitars for his team.

What Busch did was disrespectful to the Artist, NASCAR, and the Nashville race track.

Following the third hit to the ground he tossed the guitar aside as if it were a piece of trash before recovering it and tossing it to a crew member.

Screw him.

Nashville takes a lot of pride in the race, and the unique trophy.

Kyle Busch always has bucked the system, embracing the notoriety that comes with being NASCAR's newest bad boy.

He doesn't care if race fans dislike him — and boy, do they ever — and he makes no apologies for knocking people out of his way en route to Victory Lane. His rejection of conformity is genuine, and Busch does everything he can to avoid being grouped as just another politically correct NASCAR driver shilling for a sponsor.
So if he's aware of the growing backlash surrounding his guitar-smashing celebration after a Nationwide Series win at Nashville Superspeedway, it's doubtful Busch even cares.

But this time, even his most ardent supporters wonder if Busch went too far.

See, it wasn't just any guitar that Busch whacked three times against the ground before tossing the chipped steel instrument aside. No, it was a revered Gibson Les Paul guitar that had been hand-painted by longtime NASCAR artist Sam Bass and has become the symbol of Nashville Speedway.

Bass initially said he was stunned Saturday night to see Busch climb from his car, accept the trophy, then attempt to destroy it. But he had softened after speaking to Busch in Victory Lane, where the driver explained that Nashville had frustrated him for so long, he had promised his crew that if he ever claimed one of the coveted guitars, he'd smash it and share the pieces with the entire team.

On Monday, however, Bass told NASCAR Scene he was heartbroken to see Busch destroy the trophy.

I think Busch wants the notoriety. Any attention is good attention. Nobody could be that much of an ass in real life.

But seriously, who cares? I'd like to thank Busch for doing something that enabled me to remember there was even a Nascar race this past weekend.....

Nascar sucks....give me the days of JD McDuffie, Harry Gant, Tim Richmond, Earnhardt, Cale, Alabama Gang, Wilkesboro, Rockingham, et al.......this current crop of corporate schills is an embarrasment....

Wow, imagine that, we have the same reaction to this. Kyle may not have acted in a way that we all would have but I will refrain from telling him that he ought to act how we see fit with a trophy that he had rightfully earned.

Joe Louis cut his Olympic Gold Medal into eight pieces and game a piece to each of his children. The US Olympic Committee, The craftsmen that made the medals, and the US as a whole should probably feel slighted by this mans selfish actions. I am having trouble taking offense to this, especially since it did not look like he was trying to disrespect anyone in his celebration.

Yet another reason why NASCAR is something to be avoided like the plague. Next thing you know, someone's going to pull a Jeff Jarrett out there and whack someone upside the head with a guitar.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'll take Danica and the IRL any day of the week. The racing is much cleaner there.

car racing... wtf?

btw, this guy went to the Rodman school of self-promotion... i'd never heard of this guy before today, now i know he's "the guy who smashed the guitar"

but hey... it's NASCAR your IQ must be this low to watch.

why not just set up a lawn chair by the freeway? same thing.

I'm with you and Ursus on this one. Loved to go to the dirt track outside of town when I was a kid. Occasionally a couple of local guys that had made NASCAR would come back and race on the dirt track. Today's NASCAR is sterile and not much better than baseball.

Nothing better than local dirt track racing man. I had a couple of buddies that would race every weekend and I would go down and help them in the pits. Damn that was fun. How many "Thunder Road" racetracks are out there around the country still. Seems like they are becoming few and far between. We never had any Nascar guys go to the show so that didn't happen but going down and watching a race and drinking a beer sure was a lot of fun anyway. :D

We were pretty lucky, I think 3 guys from my hometown (about 15,000 people at the time) raced NASCAR in the 60's & 70's. One used to use my neighbor across the street's garage so whenever he was in town I would hang out with the mechanics and watch them work on the car. They would give me free passes to the dirt track races. This thread is making me want to find a local track and go watch some real racing. Mmmmmm, my boys might like that.

Had the same thought earlier when I was typing. Better find a track and go let the motors beat your heart for ya for a couple of hours.
