Clemson played so much better than people have given them credit for all year that even Vegas, which once had a Clemson/Bama game as a double digit line for Bama has brought the line down to 6 (now up to 7 in most places) for the game on Monday. It didn't matter if it was Ohio St or Penn State or Michigan in that game - any of those teams would've been curb stomped. Heck, Michigan couldn't hang with Florida State and Penn St coughed up a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter to a 3-loss USC team. None of those teams were going to beat Clemson. All three top Big Ten teams lost their bowl games and Clemson was by leaps and bounds the best of the teams they played.

And for people complaining about FBS and how they determine their champion, I'm not sure this is the year to complain about it - is there any doubt that Alabama and Clemson are far and away the best two teams out there? Why do we need to add 4 more teams to the playoff to prove that?

Couldn't hang?

Bitch, outside of a disasterous first quarter Michigan won the other 3 quarters...the first quarter was just that bad. Hell, outside of 2 plays Michigan dominated that game - a 91 yard TD pass (completely blown coverage and FSU took advantage of it) and a 3rd and 22 drawish play that had horrid arm tackling that went for 71 yards and set up a TD.

Can't take those plays out and blah blah blah. The reality is, outside of those 2 plays Michigan "won" the game. Outside those two plays Florida State had 130 yards passing and 78 yards rushing (2.2 ypc). They had just 13 first downs. Held the ball for less than 25 minutes.

Yes, Florida State won the game by 1, but to say Michigan couldn't handle them? Get the **** outta here with that bullshit.
All Michigan had to do was to cover that last kick and they would've won. Of course, they didn't, and they coughed up a game to a team they were better than. Sure, probably misspoke with the "couldn't handle them" phrase, but a loss is a loss is a loss.

Great tweet I saw on the Lane Kiffin removal from being the OC for the title game - Kiffin continues to do the impossible as he manages to be fired from a job he already quit.

Yet Clemson lost to Pitt. Alabama hasn't lost but they gave up 522 yards to Ole Miss during a 48-43 win over a team that finished 5-7. They're not invincible. What there IS doubt about is whether or not Alabama and Clemson would be the two teams in the national title game if the two teams in the national title game got there via a full playoff such as they have in D-III, D-II, or FCS.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Eh, a larger playoff doesn't per se mean you have a worthy national champ. March Madness, for all the fun it is, doesn't always result in the best team winning, it just results in a team winning 6 games in a row at the end of a long season. If there'd be a way to go to a 5 or 6 team playoff that would probably be just enough. I'm too lazy to look up DIII but DII and FCS are already too bloated in terms of teams competing in the playoffs. No need to copy and paste that for FBS.

Good troll stuff. OSU was 11-1 in the regular season, including wins against Michigan and a 3-TD win on the road in Norman against an Oklahoma team that just curb stomped Auburn in the Sugar Bowl and you don't think they were top 6 worthy. That's believable.

Buckeyes didnt win the Big 10 conference and they didnt beat the team that won their conference. (Penn St) Game over

Also the fact they got boatraced like they did by Clemson more than proves my point. This bullshit that top 10 teams can lose 31-0 like OSU did and 63-20 like Florida State did to Louisville should keep them out of the top 10 on merit.

OSU wasnt even a top 10 team let alone 6 I was being generous. Good teams dont lose like they did.

Top 10 vs Top 6 vs Top 2 can be argued until we're all blue in the face and circle jerk each other to death.

The argument should really be the eligibility criteria of teams selected for the playoff. As I've said multiple times, I think that only teams who make it to their conference championship game should be eligible for the playoffs. In this case, OSU would not have been eligible.

Then we should just cancel the OOC games and just play in conference until the playoffs. That way Penn St wouldn't have lost to Pitt and Ohio St wouldn't have beaten Oklahoma and those facts wouldn't have come into play when it came to ranking the teams. Having teams play decent competition out of conference is what caused Ohio St to be the pick over Penn St so we can eliminate that and not have this happen again. Super. :coffee:

Not a stretch, Penn St is/was only possible to rank above Ohio St when you exclude the OOC results which made Ohio St 11-1 and Penn St 10-2. People who want to focus on the conference championship game being the end all be all can only do so by excluding the OOC results. If that's where we want to go, fine, but it is what it is.

I never said end all be all (and I don't care if anyone else state that; that's not my argument). Only as part of the criteria. OOC results can be used as part of the selection criteria after the last 10 eligible playoff teams have been determined from the power 5 conferences. OOC results and making it to the CCG both matter.
