You mean ambassadors stepping down when a new administration comes in? Yeah that's really unusual

Why would this transition be any different than any other? The people leaving State are at retirement age. When the entry and mid-level officers start leaving in droves, then that will be newsworthy.

There is a tranche of retirements every time there's a new admin, and all the ambassadors turn over. Right now there doesn't appear to be an inordinate number of retirements, and for some like Kennedy, they are overdue. A lot of these people did the wrong thing when they had the opportunity to put the kibosh on Clinton's email server and said nothing (and in some cases told other concerned officials to shut up about it)

That's a lack of administrative courage that doesn't belong at any level.

Curious if you think the mass exodus the day before had anything to do with what we now know happened the next day? Just coincidence or what?

As somebody said above, Mexico needs the US way more than we need them.
Yes, that prior post was kinda silly. Mexico and China have been in competition with each other for several years as the source of cheaper labor/manufacturing - they both do the same thing. Mexico is not really much of a market for China and vice versa. Maybe this could be a boon for the EU as they are a destination market like we are. Unfortunately for Mexico, the EU tends to be very discriminatory in terms of who gets or doesn't get favored trade status.
Silly on you shorty! Watch and learn, agricultural products we export to Mexico can be provided by South America. Mexico is the largest consumer of American corn. Corn and wheat are the commodities that set the price for all our agricultural commodities. With the potential of Argentina taking over as Mexico's corn provider together for Trump's disdain for ethanol among other renewable energy what does the future look like for our farmers and the already depressed commodities market??

Don't discount China's desire to provide the very products they import from us, built by many thousands of US workers...Mr Trump is playing right into their hands.

I'm not sure of where you get your information, but there hasn't been a "mass exodus. I'd remind you that there are more A/S's still on the job today than there were at the same point in the Clinton-Bush transition.

And what happened the next day? Are you talking about the travel ban? Nobody at State had foreknowledge of when that was happening or details about the implementation until it happened. Even Kelly (DHS) found out as Trump was signing it, and DHS is the primary affected agency.

A quick google search shows Japan is our largest consumer of American corn. But don't stop using your alternative facts.
