I blame the lack of quality history education in this country. The vast majority of people in this country know squat about history, and constantly falling back to equating the other party with Hitler and Nazis is just the height of laziness and ignorance. But it's easy, and makes for great posters, so we're faced, with every administration, having the party on the outside declare that the current administration is the second coming of Hitler, and it never is even in the vicinity of being true.

Call Trump the next Andrew Jackson, that could be true. Call Trump what Teddy Roosevelt would've been had he won the 1912 election as the Bull Moose candidate - that's believable. Calling Trump, or any US President, Hitler is just mind-boggingly bereft of historical accuracy.

Nah, too militant. He's a Berlusconi. But I still hold that he's very much like Andrew Jackson, minus the Native American angle.

I never said anything at all about Hitler vs. any President of my lifetime prior to this past election season. I did say some things related to Trump and Hitler this election season. I said that Trump has a Hitler type personality. And I said that the way in which nationalism..the make the country great again thing...played a role in the early 20th century Hitler situation and the current Trump situation are similar. Not identical. But similar.

I stand by all of that. Trump could indeed be a Hitler if we didn't have the system we have. He's that type of person.

I would never have said Jimmy Carter is a Hitler type personality. I'd have never said Bill Clinton is a Hitler type personality. I'd have never said Obama is is a Hitler type personality. And of COURSE I'd have never said Reagan or either of the Bushes were Hitler type personalties.

But Trump IS a Hitler type personality. And I think it's pretty obvious. He's a delusional demagogue with autocratic tendencies. He can't DO what Hitler did because of our system. But he's the same type of person.

You're a loon. And I mean that. If you honestly think Trump and Hitler are the same type of person then you're even crazier than most of us already think you are. Hitler had a deep seeded, obsessive determination to elevate a particular racial group to absolute dominance over the rest of the world and the racially inferior peoples he thought himself separate from. And he felt absolute annihilation of those peoples was an acceptable option. Trump, on the other hand, is a buffoon of a person who's been gifted in life with wealth from his parents, and who seems mostly interested in being liked and stroking his own ego with twitter outbursts.

You know you've reach a certain level of crazy when you can take those two, completely different personality sets and, because you're unstable and weirdly bitter about a political election, that you actually convince yourself that things that were never equal are now, in fact, one in the same. If Dante had written about crazy, you'd surely be circling the 8th or 9th level of that place by now.
