I don't hunt, nor do I claim to be a hockey expert, but it must suck to get schooled about the game by a hick from Georgia.

There's no reason for your biases to cloud common sense judgement.

I apologize for butting in on your hockey civil war, but assist are just as important as goals. There is a reason Gretzky was called the Great One.

Same as everyone else. The league average for unassisted goals is about 5-6% of all goals. When Ovie hit 500 he had 27 unassisted goals or 5.4%.

Assists are participation medals.

I would expect somebody from the great white north to get it, but you don't. Assists would be more like giving the QB yard credit for RB's when they hand the ball off. Have you ever seen a TD catch where the ball wasn't thrown?

You do know what goes down as an assist, don't you?

So you believe QB's should get credit for a rushing TD when the hand the ball off. Check. :dunce:

BTW, last year in the Caps/Pens six game playoff series:

Ovechkin - 2 goals, 5 assists
Crosby - 0 goals, 2 assists

Go ahead and believe it's Ovie's fault and Crosby's doing. You knuckleheads are wearing me out. :tothehand:

No, but QB's get credited for passing yards when the receiver makes yards after the catch, and he will even be credited for a TD pass if the receiver scores. It's the same philosophy. :dunce:

What's one of the first things you tell a youth hockey player?

Pass the puck.

A goal scorer is easier to stop than a goal scorer that can pass the puck.
