Westbrook gets his 27th triple-double of the season, 1 shy of Oscar Robertson's record of 28 before the All-Star break.

Rumors have Min, Det, and NY in a deal that would send Rubio to Det, Jackson to NY and Rose to Min.

Hate the deal. Rubio is better than both at this point. Rose is finished.

Is Rose a rental to mentor Dunn and Jones and then clear up space on the salary cap, or will they try and resign him if the deal goes thru?

The phrase I've heard is "bridge guard" to get to Dunn. The move would essentially be dumping Rubio's cap hit of 28m. With Pek coming off the books due to a medical retirement there is about to be a large amount of space cleared in Minnesota.

I just don't get why Ricky isn't the "bridge". Ricky, at this point, is significantly better than Rose and 2 years younger. Rose is 28 and Rubio is 26.

I guess Thibs just doesn't care for Ricky and really loves all his guys from his days in Chicago. He's wanting Noah, Rose, Gibson and Butler.

I'd take Noah and Butler. I just hate to give up Rubio for Rose. I'm just one of the few that likes Rubio I guess.

I can't imagine them resigning Rose though. He still says he wants a max deal.

I don't mind Rubio. Maybe they want Dunn to start next season, but I don't know if he's ready. I can see them clearing cap room by not signing Rose next year. Don't want to sign him long term and have another Pek situation if he gets hurt again.

This is where I'm confused. The Wolves bought the Iowa Energy starting next year. They'd have (still will) real easy access to get Dunn in the G-League for a ton of time and then get him to Minnesota to get time. That won't be an option if he's the #1 option next year.

Rubio is signed through 18-19. I think they could wait until next year to trade him, but I guess clearing space now is more important. He is the highest cap hit on the Wolves roster. He's the 13th biggest PG cap hit. Given where his play has been and how contracts are going, he's actually pretty solid for what his deal is. Though I suppose dumping his deal now, plus not having to take Rose's deal would be a big win.

I really wish an all in move for Westbrook has been made. However, Thibs values Dunn so much he would never be included in any deal. It's why Butler was never traded for

Are they worried about Dunn yet? All the red flags are still there that were there with him in college - he's not a good shooter from anywhere on the court (and his poor free throw rate would indicate he's not going to get better), and he's not much of a distributor. And on top of that, he's got four years of college behind him so he's not like a really young kid with one year of college behind him and still coming into his body. He might be a good defender, but it's hard to put him on the floor for just that. There's better point guards in this draft that could even fall to where the TWolves could pick. Might they move him?

Thibs loves Dunn. He isn't going anywhere.

The Bulls were willing to give up Jimmy Butler, on draft night, for Dunn and a few other pieces. Thibs wouldn't do it. He has no interest in giving up Lavine or Dunn. He isn't concerned about shooting. There's points being scored without the PG putting up 20 a game.

He's 53 games into his career, why give up on him?

Want to know something funny? In terms of stat metrics, he's not far behind rose.

Even better? Rubio crushes Rose in the metrics

Which Rose are we talking about, Derrick Rose? I agree that Rubio is right there with Rose (using the PER they're about the same), and Rubio doesn't have Rose's long history of terrible injuries. But both Rubio and Rose can at least shoot free throws - Dunn can't even do that, which is problematic as a point guard in this league. I wouldn't give up on him either, obviously he has years on a rookie contract anyway, but there's a difference between being a point guard who doesn't shoot and being a point guard who can't shoot. Getting harder to hide a black hole on the offensive part of the floor in this NBA.

Rubio could be the point guard that gets PORZINGAS the ball more in the low post.Rubio was being called The PETE MARAVICH of the 21st century.

He looked more like Maravich, his game did not look very close to the Pistol.

The salary cap room is the only thing that makes sense. Rubio looks like a better deal all the way around, like clenz said. Do the Wolves have someone on their radar for next year, to spend this money on?

I saw Lillard is being shopped. No way the Wolves make that move that that would be a place I'd send Rubio plus some. Well before Rose.

PG that are free this summer

Steph Curry
Chris Paul
Kyle Lowry
Jrue Holiday
George Hill
Jeff Teague
Derrek Rose
Patty Mills
Darren Collison
Branden Jennings

Then no one worth talking about

CP3 would be a bridge guy. Much better 2 or 3 year option than Rose.

Philly practicly gives Nerlens Noel away to Dallas today

Dallas gets Noel

Philly gets Andrew Bogut and Dallas protected frist rounder...which is protected all the way out to 18. Dallas is currently at 7

Eh, hard to say what Noel is really worth. Coming up to the end of his contract this year and although he was restricted it's hard to see the value of spending big money for him to play backup to Embiid. And for all of Okafor's issues with defense and rebounding, Noel's defense and rebounding were greatly exaggerated, especially considering his offense is pretty limited. Noel is likely a backup center in this league.

That is the one real hole in The Process - some years are just bad drafts so you don't really land the big stud you need. The 2013 draft was one of those years, I mean, Anthony Bennett went first overall. I think the Greek Freak, who went 15th that year, is the only guy to make an all-star team from that draft. Just a brutal year for the draft that year.

With that said, the Sixers aren't really doing a good job of getting things for players. They basically gave away both Illyasova and Noel - granted, expiring contracts, but all they've gotten are 4 second round picks and Justin Anderson. Hinkie would've snared a 1st round pick somewhere out of this.

Just shows how unqualified he is. Even if true (later on local radio he claimed it was only an offer and not an actual deal), why would you say that in a presser? :dunce:

Can we call Embiid an injury prone bust yet...or do we still have to pretend that he'll be healthy and make a difference and then create some story about the process?

He's out for the year...again.

So, for those keeping track at home

2014-2015: missed entire season with injury
2015-2016: missed entire season with injury
2016-2017: missed 50 games with injury. Playing 25 minutes per game was too taxing on his body and he broke down after just 31 games played.

For his career he's played in just 12% of all possible games.

For reference - the much maligned, often made fun of for his injuries, Greg Oden played in 21% of possible games played during his 6 year career.

Embiid has 243 regular season games left to be in the league as long as Oden. He needs to play in 31% of games over the next 3 years to equal Greg Odem for being an injury prone bust.
