I think most of the media are liberal and that influences their behavior. That is probably a factor. However, I also think Trump's own behavior is a factor. He either lies a lot or he is often out of touch with reality or a combination of the two. Bottom line is that he makes a lot of false Statements; many times for no apparent reason. Then he challenges the media by saying THEY are the ones making the false statements when they call him on it. Doing that is going to do nothing but make the media more determined.
And example is how he started off right off the bat claiming he had a larger inauguration crowd than Obama did when that obviously wasn't the case. Then he went to a "sacred" place at the CIA and did it again. He would not give it up. Kept doubling down. Sent his Press Secretary out to say that Washington DC metro ridership was higher for Trump's inauguration than it was for Obama's when the objective data clearly said otherwise.
BTW he also clearly lied when reporters asked him to comment on General Flynn's situation a couple of weeks ago. (see
http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/10/politics/ ... s-reports/). I remember seeing the report on it and shaking my head at how implausible Trump's claim was. Like HE of all people hadn't heard of something that at that point had been all over the media for about a day and a half. Then we find out that Trump had actually known about it for weeks (
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/pos ... 7e80d46997).
This is nothing knew. It's completely consistent with the observation that Trump made false statements at an unprecedented frequency throughout the primary then again throughout the general election campaign. It worked for him in terms of getting him into office. But it's going to drive the media to be skeptical of everything he says and to continue to challenge him.
