Maybe he should invite the Chinese since he did a real ta ta to Xi Jinping after all the smack talk on China during the election. Yep. Lots of big talk on China but he caved like a little girl when the rubber actually met the road. For all the talk about the press being mean to Trump that's one story that hasn't been heavily emphasized but it happened.

Not that I'm upset. One thing that really worried me is that he'd start a trade war with China and it would devastate our economy. Clearly he's not going to do that because its clear that his balls jump right out of his scrotum into his body cavity when he actually has to deal with the Chinese. But it still showed what a complete phony he is.
You sound like you could use some golf meetings.

Golf or whatever. Trump blinked when it came to talking to Xi Jinping. That's received little coverage but all his bravado went out the window on that one. I'm wondering if he's concerned about some financial interest he has because after all that "Chinese this" and "Chinese that" stuff during the election he totally lost his gonads when it came to actually having to talk to the Chinese President.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Chizzy doesn't understand golf...that's probably why he got kicked out of college. Liberals don't know how to concentrate on achieving a goal, so golf doesn't register. And don't even mention chess. Somehow, kalm has been able to find a balance with golf as a Liberal...but he is obviously starting to crack under the stress.
Thanks!

Actually, I think it's a great thing that many conservatives enjoy golf and in my professional opinion, it's quite good for their soul.

Golf is an amazingly difficult sport to succeed at. It's one of the most complicated motions in all of athletics requiring coordination of the use of a ton of different muscles. It's played on an inconsistent surface with inconsistent conditions. It requires a massive amount of concentration. With rare exception, it tends to punish the "play harder and over-achieve" mentality.

It also begs of it's competitors to call penalties on themselves and display class by rooting for their opponents.

The conservative mindset of winning at all costs and domination through sheer force of will rather than appreciating fortunate bounces, hope, and perseverance through adversity is why so many conservatives don't have time for the game, or quit in frustration after years of playing.

I really miss playing golf. A former company had a golf league, and I was able to play regularly. Nothing like a 4.5 hour walk and hitting a few golf balls along the way. Maybe teach my grandson someday, or even better for him, have someone else teach him and enjoy a few rounds with him.

In a competitive golf game, no honest person honestly roots for their opponent, if they're being honest. In fact, they're being dishonest by attempting to persuade anyone that they're honestly rooting for an opponent to do well, in all honesty. I'm honestly not shocked that you honestly believe that a competitive golfer would honestly root for their opponent to do well

Your problem is in thinking golfers are honest.

I've openly rooted for fellow competitors and been rooted for in return in professional events. It's a tradition.

Ideally they hit some amazing shots and play really well, just not well enough to beat me.

But honestly and internally, when coming down to the wire every shot regardless of outcome makes somebody happy.

So you're kind of right.

We had a guy join our Friday group years ago and he would openly root against you and your ball. We had to have a come to Jesus meeting with him before we kicked him out. He changed his ways and now is one of the more compassionate guys... at least on the surface. 8-)

A few years ago, I realized I had enough frustration in life without actively seeking it on a golf course.

What are you guys playing for? Unless I'm in a tourney, it's usually a friendly round, some BS'ing, and the goal of breaking 40 or 80, depending on 9 or 18. We always congratulate our buddies on good shots or good rounds. The older I get and less I play, the more realistic 45 and 90 are.

And speaking of congratulating, don't get me started on sandbagging. Does it exist? Of course. But anytime you have a large group of golfers playing, odds are someone is going to play well above their head and post a great, even sometimes ridiculously low score. Rather than bitch about it, the thing to do is walk up and say "hey man, great round!"

Until it happens the next week, and the next, and the next... 8-)

Like when I'm in a tourney and a 12 handicap shoots 1 over on the front 9 and kicks my butt. That happens, as I've had a below par 9 in the past. If it was in a tourney, I would have been called a sandbagger.

Aside from the jokes and some hazing....this is how we play golf. There's nothing wrong with rooting for your friends.

But when it comes down to the final putt....he's on his own.

It could be for $1 as the bragging rights are often more important. The money is a wash anyway. I won $100 last Friday and bought $90 worth of drinks and appetizers after the round for everyone. I've had plenty of rounds where my bar tab was bigger than my winnings. Best thing you could do in our group is lose $2.

The problem is that the lower the handicap, the more consistent the golfer. A 5 almost never wins a net event because they are going to shoot 72-80 95% of the time. A 15 might shoot an occasional 80 and like Kalm said, you put enough 15's out there, somebody is bound to do it that day.
