They should change the rules to read that on the day of the race it will be announced whether they will go clockwise or counterclockwise

Then it would come a little closer to being a sport

There is upper body strength involved in NASCAR above all other motorsports (other than maybe monster trucks - and there is a female who does very well in the Scooby truck in that sport, btw). Indy cars are less of a toll on the upper body because the events are shorter, timewise, and the steering exertion is less. Plus, you do not routinely make contact with other cars in open wheel racing. NASCARS are heavy, and you do wrestle with the wheel, particularly on non-superspeedways.

I do believe there is a physicality aspect that wears Danica out. Look how many times she wrecks late in races.
That's true. She is very small physically at 5'2 and less than 100 lbs. The average NASCAR driver is something like 5'10-5'11 and 180ish lbs, is it not? That's a pretty big difference, even is just base muscle strength endurance.
So what you are saying is she has an 80lb weight advantage drastically giver her an enormous horsepower to weight ratio over others cars and she still cant get into the top 30 on a regular basis. I rest my case

 This could be done easily because it would only require a quick change of the steering wheels for the ones that turn right.

I was thinking more about tires, but yeah

And inducing PTSD in the drivers so there are more fights in the pit area

Explain what you mean about "regular basis," Alphie. Even clenz's mysoginistic citation of stats places Danica at about 24th place on average. Even that 30-something finish at this year's Daytona was caused by a MALE driver who idiotically tried to go four wide and caused a 16-car pile-up. Danica didn't do that, but she sure paid for it.

About24th... or exactly 25.56 in one of the better cars in the field. And please explain how raw stats can be misogynistic. :dunce:

Danica is driving for, IMHO, the fourth best (after JGR + 78, HMS, and Penske) team in NASCAR at S-HR. So that puts her in roughly the 12th-15th best car in the field.

Her average finishes in her career:
2017 - 33
2016 - 22.0
2015 - 23.5
2014 - 22.3
2013 - 26.1
2012 - 28.3

She seems to have plateaud in the upper 20s, which doesn't even get you in the vastly expanded Chase playoff format. She is not a good driver. Nothing mysogynistic about facts.

Now, let's take a look at another driver, Greg Biffle, who was let go after 2016:

In his 15 years of driving, his average finish was 16.6. His average finish was better in every year I listed in the above post for Danica Patrick. He had 19 Cup series wins, 13 poles, and 175 Top Tens. He finished in the top ten in season standings 6 times and in the top five 3 times.

Danica IS the female version of J.J. Yeley.

One of them can't get a ride.

It's not the 40 year old male that can't get the ride.

Tell me, SH, why Danica continues to get a ride with an amost exactly identical career path as J.J. Yeley but he can't.....that's not even fair. J.J. Had a better career.

What does being 40 have to do with it? Morgan Shepherd just raced 23 Xfinity Series races last year at 74 and is back for 2017 at 75.

Also, he had a higher average finish in the main series at age 55 (1996 season) than Danica has ever had.

PS. Yeley is over 40. And his stats are terrible.

SH initially had issue with my assertion Danica was taking a spot from a younger driver that has more wheel talent but has been stuck on a 5th tier team - like FRM.

Typically at 40 if you're going to be on a top level team you're already there.

Yes, his stats are terrible...BUT...they are better than Danica.

I used to routinely finish in the top 1-2 our high school races to various spots around Delaware, PA and Maryland (screw Jersey). I knew all the back road shortcuts and had a knack for knowing when and how to avoid traffic lights.

Danica would not have had a chance.
These signatures have a 500 character limit?

What if I have more personalities than that?

Maybe we should put it this way.... Horney, can you find another current driver with 150+ starts with worse stats than Danica? Wins, Top 5's, Top 10's, Laps Led, etc...

Cripes, her boyfriend has better stats:

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr
149 races
7 Top 5's
17 Top 10's
44 Laps Led
21.4 Avg finish

I'll volunteer my guy - Landon Cassill....

Though I imagine he'd be pretty good (top 12-15) most years if he was on S-HR rather than FRM

There you go. You found a winner. Of course that he's on what, his third different ride kinda further proves the point.

In Dec(ish) 2006 (at age 17) he signed a development deal with Hendrick. He was the "test dummy" for the care of tomorrow, as well as being involved with the R&D. He made his nationwide debut in July 2007, right after he turned 18.

2010 he drove truck and Nationwide for a handful of small teams. I don't know how small teams work in terms of racing for more than one and if they fall under a "parent" umbrella. I know FRM has a technical and part alliance from RFR.

2011 he he drove Nationwdie and a few Sprint Cup races for Germain Racing.

2012 he agreed to drive a partial season for FRM but BK Racing gave him a full season deal so he took that.

2013 He left for Circle Sport and sued BK Racing for unpaid winnings. Circle Sports folded after 2014.

2015 he joined FRM.

He started running Sprint full time in 2011 at 21 years old (turned 22 in July of that year). He's pretty well respected for how he handles cars and his actual driving skill. From what someone close to him, that I talk to pretty much daily, he was "in-line" to take over a Hendrick ride (most likely Gordon) but Gordan raced longer than some thought he would and the recession caused issues with the development deal he was on which led to him having to find a team late in the game and being "forced" into taking rides at smaller teams to get on the track.

If he can run this year in the top 20 consistently for FRM I'd be he starts getting "bigger" teams on the phone.

I'm watching Atlanta qualifying and Danica failed to advance out of the round of 24. I shit you not, she blamed the setting sun and shadows on the track for causing her to take a poor line into the turn. Apparently no other driver is affected by sunlight. Just her.

She sits lower in her seat than other drivers and the visor only shielded the sun on her forehead.
