SALON has 130,000 subscribers, so basically we're talking a tiny fringe

and yes Trump is unprepared and bumbling
and destined to compromise because he doesn't know what he's doing
(isn't that obvious already)
He can't just loud talk his way around congress like he can with his supporters
He'd rather organize a rally - which he does frequently - than work with congress to get anything done

He has a scant and fleeting relationship with truth
so he's alienating himself from the people who would like to help him

He's painting himself into a corner
in 6 months he'll be completely neutered by his own actions
at which point he'll blame everybody else (to his supporters at another rally)
My point is that there's a significant narrative that it is the right's base that was hysterical in recent memory- willing to buy all kinds of crazy memes born out of ignorance, stupidity and lack of education

If the last 3-4 months have proven anything, it is these two things:

1. Trump the Campaigner is the same as Trump the President

and

2. The right doesn't have a moron monopoly
:geek:

Well we can certainly agree on that ^

The one silver lining to Trump getting elected is that he backs off. His bark appears to be way greater than his bite. And we should be thankful for that because if he DID insist on all the nonsense he made a big deal of during the campaign it would be a disaster.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I predict he'll be completely ineffective...
He's distancing himself from the core conservatives in both the house and senate
because he lies about everything and they don't want that on them

The regular bought and sold Republicans are slowly backing away
because he's got too many hair brained boondoggles he want's to fund

He'll be left with nobody...
Even his Vice President won't back up the stuff he says

It'll be just him and his followers blaming everybody else

Let me explain a concept to you like I had to with my 16 year old nephew:

It's called "campaign rhetoric". Look into it. For as fucking smart as you claim to be, it's amazing you (and virtually every single donk out there) bought that schtick hook, line and sinker.

It was a dirty word during the constitutional convention.

No, it isn't a democratic republic - whatever the fuck that is. And no, it isn't a democracy because people get to vote. If you try that old and ridiculous argument, I'll shove a rhetorical red-hot poker up your hippie ass.

And yes...of course it's a democratic republic.

I'm not sure what ^ that gibberish is but here's the problem with a "Democracy"

In a Democracy a simple majority of angry people can rescind the rights of free peoples
Based on nothing more than misinformation

In a Democracy there is no rule of law

In a Democracy logic and reason take a back seat to religion

No one is suggesting direct democracy here and in general I agree with you. Tim Eyman proved the voters of Washington State are not smart enough to create their laws.

The quality of representative government depends to a large extent on the quality of the people it represents. There is something seriously wrong with a population that would do something like elect somebody like Donald Trump to be President. I'm sorry, but there is.

It didn't just start with this last election. But this last election illustrated the problem we have in a really stark way. To have almost half the people in the country vote for somebody like that is very disturbing.

And, no, the fact that someone as bad as Hillary Clinton was the alternative doesn't mitigate the situation. You don't vote for a cartoon character buffoon like that who also happens to be incredibly and obviously dishonest even by the standards of politicians to be President of the United States.
