BTW, I know this is being called "Trump Care." But I seriously doubt if he has any idea as to what's going on. I think this is much more "Republican House Care." Trump just wants to say something happened. They could be doing the worst legislation ever and I don't think he'd have any ability to judge that. I don't think he had any clue about anything before the election and I don't think he has any clue about anything now.

Wrong, but apparently you're too :dunce: to understand that they don't own anything yet.
Step 1: Passed the House.
Step 2: Has to pass the Senate, where changes will invariably be made/amendments added.
Step 3: IF it passes the Senate (with changes made) it the has to be passed by the House again, then Trump would sign. If the House fails to pass that changed version (maybe less likely than the one passed 217-213) then it goes to Steps 4-6..

Step 4: House/Senate Conference Committee for more changes.
Steps 5-6: Whatever comes out of conference committee would have to again pass BOTH houses.

Step 7: Trump signs. And if this doesn't happen the conks don't own squat.

Where are you getting this from?

It doesn't need a single donk vote to pass.

The fun part will be if the Senate passes it as is in time for the House to vote again before the '18 election.
That would be worth tuning in to watch.

Best breakdown I've seen yet of the AHCA from Justin Amash. He still went on to vote for it on the grounds that it increases liberty (of course). I'm cool with that and at least he's consistent.

But it's still just polishing a turd.
This is not the bill we promised the American people. For the past seven years, Republicans have run for Congress on a commitment to repeal Obamacare. But it is increasingly clear that a bill to repeal Obamacare will not come to the floor in this Congress or in the foreseeable future.

When Republican leaders first unveiled the American Health Care Act, a Democratic friend and colleague joked to me that the bill wasn’t a new health care proposal; it was plagiarism. He was right.

The AHCA repeals fewer than 10 percent of the provisions in the Affordable Care Act. It is an amendment to the ACA that deliberately maintains Obamacare’s framework. It reformulates but keeps tax credits to subsidize premiums. Instead of an individual mandate to purchase insurance, it mandates a premium surcharge of 30 percent for one year following a lapse of coverage. And the bill continues to preserve coverage for dependents up to age 26 and people with pre-existing conditions.

I want to emphasize that last point. The bill does not change the ACA’s federal requirements on guaranteed issue (prohibition on policy denial), essential health benefits (minimum coverage), or community rating (prohibition on pricing based on health status). In short, Obamacare’s pre-existing conditions provisions are retained..........

So why are both parties exaggerating the effects of this bill? For President Trump and congressional Republicans, the reason is obvious: They have long vowed to repeal (and replace) Obamacare, and their base expects them to get it done. For congressional Democrats, it’s an opportunity to scare and energize their base in anticipation of 2018. Neither side wants to present the AHCA for what it is—a more limited proposal to rework and reframe parts of the ACA, for better or for worse.................

The donks are whining that Trumpcare allows individual states to decide whether or not they want to continue to cover pre existing conditions. IF that is true (who knows If that is true with all the donks' histrionics like "People are going to die!" then good. The more control we can give to the states and the less to the fed govt the better. If its not specifically addressed in the constitution then its should be left up to the states to decide- States Rights. I've been consistent on that be it abortion, gay marriage, drug legalization, healthcare, etc...

The notion that AHCA classifies rape or sexual assault as a preexisting condition, or that survivors would be denied coverage, is false.

At least 45 states prohibit insurance discrimination like this. Then, it takes several leaps of imagination to assume that survivors of rape and sexual assault will face higher premiums as a result of conditions relating to their abuse. A person would need to be in the individual or small-group market (most Americans under 65 are on employer-provided plans), in a state that sought waivers, and in one of two to five states that did not prohibit insurance-company discrimination against survivors of sexual abuse.

In other words, this claim relies on so many factors — including unknown decisions by a handful of states and insurance companies — that this talking point becomes almost meaningless.

We always say at The Fact Checker that the more complicated the topic, the more susceptible it is to spin. Both media coverage and hyperbole among advocates are at fault for creating a misleading representation of the House GOP health bill. We wavered between Three and Four Pinocchios, but the out-of-control rhetoric and the numerous assumptions pushed us to Four Pinocchios.

It's a tougher question than you might think. First, the Libertarians -- locally and nationally -- suffer from what I call the "Wayne's World Syndrome": candidates and party officials who generally still live in their parents' basements and waste time talking about stupid theoretical shyt. Second, in DE, we have closed primaries (which is fine with me, philosophically)), so if I switch to Independent, I lose the ability to vote for a pro-liberty candidate in the GOP primary. The Democrats are totally hopeless on that score.
