http://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/09/justice- ... s-say.htmlThe Department of Justice was told to come up with justification to fire FBI Director James Comey, The New York Times and CNN reported Tuesday.
White House and Justice Department officials "had been working on building a case against [Comey] since at least last week," according to the Times, which cited administration officials. The report said Attorney General Jeff Sessions "had been charged with coming up with reasons to fire him."

If a new director tries to influence the investigation how long do you think it would be before agents go to the WaPo?
Im guessing about 12 seconds. Firing the FBI director is not/not how you cover things up in this age

As I posted on the "Countdown til Hillary is Officially off the Hook for violating NDA" thread back in Oct
"FBI, DOJ roiled by Comey, Lynch decision to let Clinton slide by on emails, says insider
The decision to let Hillary Clinton off the hook for mishandling classified information has roiled the FBI and Department of Justice, with one person closely involved in the year-long probe telling FoxNews.com that career agents and attorneys on the case unanimously believed the Democratic presidential nominee should have been charged.
The source, who spoke to FoxNews.com on the condition of anonymity, said FBI Director James Comey’s dramatic July 5 announcement that he would not recommend to the Attorney General’s office that the former secretary of state be charged left members of the investigative team dismayed and disgusted. More than 100 FBI agents and analysts worked around the clock with six attorneys from the DOJ’s National Security Division, Counter Espionage Section, to investigate the case.
“No trial level attorney agreed, no agent working the case agreed, with the decision not to prosecute -- it was a top-down decision,” said the source, whose identity and role in the case has been verified by FoxNews.com.............."

Comey completely botched the biggest investigation of his career, and caused the rank and file within the FBI to totally lose faith in him. Trumps mistake was not canning him earlier...

Re: Comey Fired
Firing Comey is not the controversial thing - the left has been railing against Comey since last year, Hillary blames him for her election loss, and even the most left leaning members of this board were just yesterday complaining about Comey's misstatements in front of Congress in just the past week. Comey had lost any effectiveness as the FBI director. The controversial thing will be who is picked to replace him. That's where the real angst should start.

McCabe should be fired too.Skjellyfetti wrote:Well, it's going to be McCabe for quite awhile unless a special prosecutor is appointed.
McCabe’s wife having accepted $700,000 in political contributions facilitated by Hillary Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe, the Virginia governor, for her state Senate run.
As reported by The Washington Examiner, Grassley noted McCabe already is being looked at by the inspector general for his involvement in the Clinton email investigation, despite his wife's ties.

Re: Comey Fired
I'm conflicted. John McCain is upset that Comey was fired which generally would mean that it is a good thing. But Lindsey Graham is happy that Comey was fired which would generally mean that it was a bad thing.
And what does this mean about the McCain/Graham bromance? Is it over?

Re: Comey Fired
Am I understanding the situation correctly?
-Grand jury subpoenas are sent out yesterday morning regarding Flynn; Trump fires Comey in the afternoon.
-Trump cites pre-election reasons for Comey's dismissal, but he didn't act until...May 9...during the thick of the investigation.
-Sessions recommends the firing of the man leading an investigation into Trump-Russia ties; however, Sessions earlier recused himself from the investigation because of his failure to mention personal meetings with the Russian ambassador...which he supposedly forgot about...even though they were recent.
-Trump has no replacement, so it seems like a knee-jerk reaction rather than a calculated move.
I don't care what side of the aisle you're on, optically, this whole thing seems fishy as fuck. Trump and company are certainly acting like they have something damning to hide.
Heck, Trump an co. might not even be worried about the FBI finding Russian ties; they might be worried about the FBI uncovering shady offshore accounts and multi-national shell companies during the course of its investigation...all impeachable items if not correctly disclosed.
