"Trump receives Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian honor
Saudi Arabia King Salman placed the King Abdulaziz al Saud Collar around President Trump’s neck on Saturday during a ceremony in the country's capital. The gold medallion is considered the kingdom's highest civilian honor.
Trump received the medal during a ceremony at the Royal Court in Riyadh shortly after he arrived in Saudi Arabia for his first foreign trip as president.
The host of the event declared that Trump was being honored for “his quest to enhance security and stability in the region and around the world,” according to the Associated Press.
Members of the White House delegation in attendance included First Lady Melania Trump, first daughter Ivanka Trump, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner and Chief Strategist Steve Bannon."

US-Saudi Arabia seal weapons deal worth nearly $110 billion immediately, $350 billion over 10 years
http://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/20/us-saudi ... visit.html
"Saudi Arabia Greets Trump With Billions of Dollars of Deals
Saudi Arabia welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump with agreements for deals worth tens of billions of dollars on Saturday as he embarked on his first state visit to the kingdom, which is undertaking unprecedented economic reforms.
The Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, is contributing $20 billion in an infrastructure investment fund with Blackstone Group LP. The fund will eventually double in size “from other investors,” according to a statement. Saudi Aramco said it signed 16 accords with 11 companies valued at about $50 billion. One initial deal -- worth $15 billion -- was signed with General Electric Co. The U.S. and Saudi Defense Ministry also negotiated a package of about $110 billion, according to a White House transcript on Friday.
“I can’t imagine another business day that’s been as good for the United States or for the kingdom,” U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in the Saudi capital, dismissing concern that controversy engulfing Trump’s administration at home would impact his first overseas trip as president.
Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest oil exporter, is eager to reset relations with the new U.S. administration after feeling shunned by President Barack Obama, who crafted the 2015 nuclear deal with their Shiite rival Iran. The kingdom is also embarking on plans to diversify its economy away from oil -- including the sale of a stake in Aramco -- after crude prices slumped by half over the past three years......"

Re: Trump of Arabia
So Trump gives a statesmanlike talk about the evils of Islamic terrorism and the need to work together to defeat it, and all the jackoffs in the press can talk about is "Trump did a 180" from his campaign speeches. What a bunch of douchebags.

Uhhhh...yeah that arms deal is going to put more guns and ammo directly in the hands of radicals backed by Saudi's...something Trump campaigned against as being the status quo...yeah, big difference with Trump.Ivytalk wrote:So Trump gives a statesmanlike talk about the evils of Islamic terrorism and the need to work together to defeat it, and all the jackoffs in the press can talk about is "Trump did a 180" from his campaign speeches. Imagine how batshyt the media would have gone if Trump went to Sand Country and pressed the case for his "Muslim ban" executive orders.

Re: Trump of Arabia
meh
im not seeing a 100 billion paycheck for the us out of this
frankly these junkets are all fluff - the opposition flails at body language and slights, while the political allies hail them as a foreign policy triumph
The only thing that is certain is that given the geopolitics of the moment, Hillary would have made a similar trip (though not as soon) and the GOP would be up in arms about Chelsea going along and the MSM except for FOX would be calling it a bold stroke
