You do realize The Troubles were a political, not religious, conflict? Great Britain's occupation of Northern Ireland was an illegal aggression and, in itself, an act of war.

Of course, the Irish outsmarted the Brits with the Good Friday accords, allowing the six northern counties to decide by referendum with which country to align (knowing that within two generations, the Irish population will outnumber the descendants of the British occupiers).

No, no. Don't cancel Biebs' show! When we cave in, the terrorists win.

In fact, put Biebs right out front and make him stand still to show he (and we) are not scared. You got this, Biebs.

But seriously, when did the world become full of such festering vaginas? That article is such a fagfest of quotes.

Yeah...but it was a conflict between the nationalists (Roman Catholics) and unionists (Protestants/Brits) so in Dbacks mind it was religious and in no way a political and nationalistic conflict.

Not to make light of this bombing...but why sit through an entire A. Grande concert just to kill yourself afterwards?

Is beating off in public concert illegal in Manchester? That's the only reason I would got to a Ari concert.

It's certainly frowned upon.

Seriously, I was disturbed by that post, Andy. Remember, not every thought in your head needs to be a post. Always think - "what would JSO do" and then do something opposite that. :thumb:

Do I have an opinion about an occupying country that exported food from Ireland, during a famine, and that left my ancestors' families without food?

Which famine? Irish or Great? The Irish Famine of the 1740s (maybe 50s, I forget) killed more people (proportionally).

Maybe they should've diversified their crops and grown something like Flax. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

The Brits exported food during both famines; however, my grandmother's (born 1901) parents lived during the Great Famine, and they told my grandmother about the Brits' misdeeds, and then she in turn told me. So I have names and faces that I can attach to those accounts.

We should never forget that the British were an illegal occupying force in Ireland, and that the Brits engaged in atrocities against the Irish. We should never let the Brits get away with the fabrication that this was religious strife. That's bull. The causes of unrest in Ireland were purely political and the result of an illegal occupation. It just so happened that the occupiers were Protestants and in land populated by Catholics. That doesn't make the struggle one over religion.
