Ah, posted it in another thread.

But, thought I'd leave this first hand account from Fox News reporter here as well:
At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the man, as he moved on top the reporter and began yelling something to the effect of "I'm sick and tired of this!"

Jacobs scrambled to his knees and said something about his glasses being broken. He asked Faith, Keith and myself for our names. In shock, we did not answer. He then said he wanted the police called and went to leave. Gianforte looked at the three of us and repeatedly apologized. At that point, I told him and Scanlon, who was now present, that we needed a moment. The men then left.

To be clear, at no point did any of us who witnessed this assault see Jacobs show any form of physical aggression toward Gianforte, who left the area after giving statements to local sheriff's deputies.

As for myself and my crew, we are cooperating with local authorities. It is not clear if charges will be filed against Gianforte at this time.

Also in the same article:

"During that conversation, another man — who we now know is Ben Jacobs of The Guardian — walked into the room with a voice recorder, put it up to Gianforte's face and began asking if he had a response to the newly released Congressional Budget Office report on the American Health Care Act. Gianforte told him he would get to him later. Jacobs persisted with his question. Gianforte told him to talk to his press guy, Shane Scanlon....

....Scanlon later issued a statement saying that Jacobs "entered the [campaign] office without permission, aggressively shoved a recorder in Greg's face, and began asking badgering questions."

Later, the statement added, "After asking Jacobs to lower the recorder, Jacobs declined. Greg then attempted to grab the phone that was pushed in his face. Jacobs grabbed Greg's wrist, and spun away from Greg, pushing them both to the ground. It's unfortunate that this aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist created this scene at our campaign volunteer BBQ.".."

Gianforte hit with misdemeanor assault.

Must appear before judge prior to June 7.

Republicans must be proud of their (likely) new Congressman.

Seems like a smart, level-headed guy.
Gianforte, 56, is a billionaire businessman who sold his company, RightNow Technologies, in 2011 and apparently now spends his time funneling money toward the Glendive Dinosaur and Fossil Museum, which publishes a newsletter explaining that "the Biblical worldview is consistent with the scientific evidence we find in the fossil record" and argues that dinosaurs rode on Noah's Ark.

Gianforte is a big fan of citing Noah, as it turns out. In a 2015 talk at the Montana Bible College, he told the audience that he doesn't believe in retirement because Noah was 600 when he built the ark. "There's nothing in the Bible that talks about retirement. And yet it's been an accepted concept in our culture today," Gianforte said. "Nowhere does it say, 'Well, he was a good and faithful servant, so he went to the beach.' It doesn't say that anywhere."

He added: "The example I think of is Noah. How old was Noah when he built the ark? Six hundred. He wasn't like, cashing Social Security checks, he wasn't hanging out, he was working. So, I think we have an obligation to work. The role we have in work may change over time, but the concept of retirement is not biblical."

If the reporter was from The Guardian, he probably deserved it.

Reporters and photographers in general are the rudest people I have ever seen. They'll get very close to people & just shove microphones and/or cameras in people's faces and start asking questions or taking photos. Rarely do you ever hear "May I please ask/take?"..I'd want to body slam & punch someone to if people did that to me..

edit: "microphones and microphones" should have been "microphones and/or cameras"

He asked a question and a follow up question. He's a reporter. And, he was asking pertinent questions. Nothing private or sensational. The candidate should've shown some professionalism and restraint and NOT assaulted a person.

He was being polite - very polite by reporter standards. It's not like he was baiting the guy and harassing him. If the guy can't handle a question and a follow up, he probably shouldn't be elected to a position where he's going to be put into more contact with more reporters. Snowflake Republican candidate.

Oh, really? Why did he get "body slammed"? Why did the candidate immediately state that something happened before that was the "same thing"? I'm not going to pretend I know the history and the details of this incident, and the candidate should not have done what he did. But I would wager that the reporter was not "polite".
