Really, UNI88, I'm disappointed in you.
Is it shrinking? Or is it growing because too many people just tune in to news/info sources that match their opinions and they don't have an opportunity to learn new things that might change their perspective?kalm wrote:It's a shrinking core at that.

I like the version of the "frog had wings" thing my late brother in law used. It was, "If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass."

And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

BTW the Democrat core is not shrinking. It's growing both in absolute terms and as a percentage of the population. It's the demographic trend thing we've discussed so many times.
The calculus remains the same. Yes Hillary Clinton lost the electoral college but she won the popular vote by winning by a 74% to 21% margin among the 29% of voters who were non White. The last time a Republican actually won the popular vote, in 2004, non Whites were 23% of voters. When Clinton beat H.W. Bush in 1992 they were 13% of voters.
Their core is not shrinking. It's the Republicans who have a shrinking core problem. And I would say that even if I was not completely disgusted with the Republicans right now. It's just the mathematical reality.

You have a different definition of core then.JohnStOnge wrote:BTW the Democrat core is not shrinking. It's growing both in absolute terms and as a percentage of the population. It's the demographic trend thing we've discussed so many times.

The correct quote is "if a frog had wings he wouldn't whomp his ass hopping"JohnStOnge wrote:I like the version of the "frog had wings" thing my late brother in law used. It was, "If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass."
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.
