Two days late but I'll post this again...

Post by JohnStOnge »

Friday was the 44th anniversary of what I think was the most impressive racehorse performance ever. Just incredible freak of nature stuff. All these years later it's still a Belmont Stakes record. Also remains a world record for a mile and a half on dirt. That is just incredible as we know how things advance in terms of breeding, nutrition, training, etc.

At the time of Secretariat's death, the veterinarian who performed the necropsy, Dr. Thomas Swerczek, head pathologist at the University of Kentucky, did not weigh Secretariat's heart, but stated, "We just stood there in stunned silence. We couldn't believe it. The heart was perfect. There were no problems with it. It was just this huge engine."[32] Later, Swerczek also performed a necropsy on Sham, who died in 1993. Swerczek did weigh Sham's heart, and it was 18 pounds (8.2 kg). Based on Sham's measurement, and having necropsied both horses, he estimated Secretariat's heart probably weighed 22 pounds (10.0 kg), or about 2.5 times that of the average horse (8.5 pounds (3.9 kg)).

Yeah, nobody else feels the same way about Secretariat. You were the only one who recognized that horse's true greatness. You should probably be in the thoroughbred business.

Anyone else surprised that JSO keeps posting about large horses and necropsies? It's almost like he's trying to tell us something about his inner desires

Why would you interpret that post as an indication that I think nobody feels the same way about Secretariat? People post threads recognizing anniversaries of historical events all the time.

I just think that 1973 Preakness is an amazing thing to look at.

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

I really enjoyed the movie as well. Watch it several times a year.
