Give PR back to Spain. Sort of like the "player to be named later" in a baseball trade.

I like it!!!! What could be fairer than returning what seemed to be ill gotten gains? Of course, this opens up the idea that we need to return California to Mexico so we'll have to be careful there.Ivytalk wrote:Give PR back to Spain. Sort of like the "player to be named later" in a baseball trade.

Re: Puerto Rico votes to become a state
So 518,000 people voted and 503,000 voted for statehood.Vidav wrote:Or the fact that only a quarter of eligible voters actually voted.VictorG wrote:If I remember right they are also going bankrupt.....That might be behind the vote totals....
518,000 is 23% of possible voters - so like 2.2 million voters.
1.6 million left
To swing it to a no vote something like 60% of the remaining voters would have to vote no.
Do you think that happens?

Yep, good idea. Ship 6.93% of our GDP and a large chunk of our innovation south of the border.Ivytalk wrote:I'm cool with that, too.GannonFan wrote:

Dunno. Not too familiar with how most people from PR feel about it.clenz wrote:So 518,000 people voted and 503,000 voted for statehood.Vidav wrote:

Well, the wall's not built yet so they could still cross back across the border.Grizalltheway wrote:Yep, good idea. Ship 6.93% of our GDP and a large chunk of our innovation south of the border.Ivytalk wrote: I'm cool with that, too.

What does it matter? It already counts.Vidav wrote:Right, but do you think we should? If only 10% of voters voted do you think that should stand?89Hen wrote: We don't have a minimum to elect a POTUS.

UND had to get rid of the Fighting Sioux logo because 3% of the Standing Rock tribe voted. Of the votes cast 77% of them wanted to allow UND to keep using it. The results were given to tribe leaders who said "Don't care, we are against it".Vidav wrote:I know that. It's just something to think about.andy7171 wrote: What does it matter? It already counts.

Sounds good. Especially since they take their share of the debt.GannonFan wrote:I like it!!!! What could be fairer than returning what seemed to be ill gotten gains? It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

You know, honestly, if I lived in a place where I didn't have to pay Federal income taxes I would be fine with that.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
