Yes you have to buy beach tags on any public beach in NJ. Not sure about Private beaches, I doubt it. You can get season passes to OCNJ beaches for like $25 before the season starts though. Eaach block has their oun life guard. But they make you swim between flags.

I grew up going to OCMD, where its free and the life guards are a half mile away.

The flags used to piss me off bad, but I've mellowed over the years.

Washington beaches don't look like that. Mostly because the air and water temp are both usually around 55.

A snooping photojournalist flew over the Governor's beach house in Island Beach State Park and caught him out on the closed beach, a safe distance from the huddled masses in Seaside Heights. What a dumbass. :lol

2. Fees for beach access are fantastic for locals (I've outlined this before). The fees pay for lifeguards and beach cleanup/restoration (call it a user fee rather than a municipal expense paid for by the residents). The real gem is that there are higher fees for weekly and seasonal access compared to daily access. This keeps the greasy city folk separated from the locals. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I don't have a beach, just rocks and mud, so I sit on my dock. Nearest beach is White Bear Beach, 2.3 miles away, and it's free. It will be packed like this tomorrow for the fireworks. I can watch them from my dock.

Thanks for this thread, guys. It's been a real count your blessings kind of thing for me. I almost forgot how much most people go through to get to an over crowded beach.
